I think he'll be back for at least a third year. The Rooneys and Haleys have too much history and besides, our offense has shown some encouraging signs this year.

Yeah I meant to announce my resignation but I just forgot to. It's nothing personal. I just need to spend more time with my family. It's been an honor to serve and I will cherish my time in office for the rest of my life. But in the words of the great George W. Bush "fool me once shame on, shame on, shame, WELL WE WON'T GET FOOLED AGAIN!"

Once again enough blame to circle the entire team lastnight! The throw to Sanders Ben stated he needed to give him a better ball Sanders said it was on him. One player didn't lose that game lets be real. They played way too conservative 1st half ..Ben needed to get down the field earlier stacking numbers .. Ben not reaching his targets (grounders) the rats basically plugged the run game..Mmm offense? the failure's was on the field not the sideline i give Haley a pass!

Establishing the Run in todays NFL is completely overrated...you pass to set up the run...im tired of this 1976 mind set where ..."because we are pittsburgh we have to be tough and set up the run...."

3rd down and 8 from our own 20 to start the game...you put the ball in the hands of your future HOF qb, who happens to be your best player and let him sling it...

why does this organization keep trying to dial back ben ill never know... no other team does it to there QBs eli, brady, rogers, peyton....

its a tired old philosophy..."we are the steelers , we need to run" jerome betti isnt on this team anymore... get over it its 2013

oh and guess what since haleys been here and we are trying to "establish the run first" we have actually gotten worse, just go look at the stats...with BA who i never wanted gone...we passed first to set up the run and we did run well...oh and won a SB

    ok rant over

Ben threw it 44 times I think. The formula for success is fewer passes I believe.

I read an article that was supposed to be about bens success in the no huddle this year ( dale lolley I believe).... But amazingly the researcher showed that his completion %, td rate, and basically all essential stats were almost identical between huddle & no huddle.

basically the success of the no-huddle is more perceived than anything else.

I agree. With our oline we haven't gotten movement in the running game all year what makes you think we can do it now? We screwed the pooched in the first half trying to run first.

Its not fewer or more passes..its situational play calling which is horrible...and predictable...

Bens a future HOF Qb in his prime...put the freaking game in his hands...oh and btw when BA was here "slinging it around" we ranked 10th and 11th in the league in rushing his last 2 years....

establishing the run is overrated...when green bay went 15-1 they were dead last in rushing...when the giants won the super bowl 2 years ago...they were dead last...you know who they played in the super bowl... the 31st ranked rushing team

How would you rather lose? with the ball in your best players hand? or running into a brick wall head first?

ill ride with ben all day

When you don't establish the run, you get results like the first 4 games, they just send the house all the time with no fear of a running attack.

correct, but they are not doing it the proper way...to come out and run 5 straight plays is predictable... your throw to set up the run in todays nfl... the first 4 games were way more than "establishing the run"

there were a slew of problems...mainly turnovers and lack of takeaways...thats why we were 0-4...not because we couldn't establish the run... its such an overblown outdated mind set...

Disagree. 5 of the last 8 SB winners are teams that establish the run and defense oriented, which is another thing people like to down play in todays NFL (defense). Running the football and defense are still very proven methods to winning. When a string of Denver type teams rattle off 5 SB's in a row, maybe I'll change my opinion but thats not going to happen.

Ok ok ill take the patriots the broncos or the saints vs. the run oriented chiefs who play good d.

Wanna make a bet on that matchup?

You our need to be able to run the ball but the focus of coming out establishing the run is so outdated. You throw to set up the run. Period.

Arians last 2 years. 10th and 11th in rushing in the league.

Go go check where the offense is ranked the last 2 years rushing...

I didn't say you didn't need an offense at all, thats why I picked Seattle, they can't match those others in offensive output but still have a good offense and their defense gives them the edge. We'll see what kind of team wins the SB, again.

Steelers twice, Giants twice and Ravens. The 3 teams that fit your mold, GB, NO and Colts.

*had to edit this, overlooked your rushing question. Mendy during the 2009 season ran for 1108 and Parker 389, that production makes the passing game easier. Arguing that the pass sets up the run or that the run sets up the pass, basically asking which came first, chicken or the egg.

Not True at all...players are way more athletic..bigger..stronger...example look how hard it was to score from the 1 for both teams thur.

sorry bud your mistaken on this...

Last 8 champs and rushing ranks

    Ravens #11
    Giants #32
    Packers #24
Saints #6 ---- Funny a passing team that is ranked 6th in rushing??? pass to set up run
    Steelers #23
    Giants #4
    Colts #18
Steelers #5 (and just remember how we got through this playoff run? we took the shackles off Ben 8 Tds Int in the 3 AFC playoff games... Remember the colts game? Came out firing away to a 14-0 lead)

People including the franchise need to get away from that "were pittsburgh, we have to run the ball mentality" yes you have to be able to run the ball...not at the cost of predictability and taking the ball out of the best players hands....

so ill take the broncos high flying attack you'll take the chiefs rushing and D... and well see who goes further in the playoffs? :hmmm:

Assuming that AR2 wants results then you have to expect he will be fired. AR2 fired Arians despite 2 SB appearances. What do you think he will do to a career sub 500 OC with a myriad of off field distractions?
