After watching the gut-wrenching and heartbreaking loss last night it's obvious we need to get some speed back in our secondary. I love Ike and the way he mans up every week and takes the other teams number one receiver and guards him pretty much to a tee. However as of late it just looks as if we are not able to sustain the types of coverages we need to prevent the third and long completions and getting beat by the deep ball. My question is in the upcoming draft would you take a corner (shutdown hopefully) and start him day one? I'm leaning more and more that way. Thoughts? Also an idea: remember the great Rod Woodson playing safety before he retired? I think Ike could pull that off pretty well. Thoughts with that as well? Happy Thanksgiving late Steeler Nation!

Ike did have several nice breaks ups on Torrey Smith in the game. Not defending Ike, but he has to cover the best WR's each team offers. But, at 32, it's time to get younger.

he isn't a #1 anymore, he could be a great #2 guy, he has to take a step down even if he's getting paid 11 mil

In todays NFL IKE'S skill level should put him as the 3rd. or 4th. CB....Allen should not be on the field, neither 1 of them Gay should be a dime.. CB only and Clark should only play in a Dime...

So basically we need at least 4 starters on the back end and we need them in a hurry...

Does it say more about Ike, or does it say that the other corners get more help?

I do believe Ike broke up more plays than he was beat on.

I wouldn't say that, some of those balls are dropped or off target and while he does defend a few passes he is getting beat....A lot! In this league it is going to happen but one on one with megatron he got destroyed until help, to be fair he does that to every CB but then Gorden burns him for a career day with well over 200 yards and 3rd and long, that is just hard to watch just about every week, 3rd and long and it is pitch and catch for big gains consistently, he is getting slower by the day and with the offense sputtering all the time it is hard to watch the defense give up first possession scores. Again, this will happen to everyone but every week if a team doesn't score on its first possession it usually changes field position because the defense can't get off the field on 3rd down and Ike is a big reason why, he constantly needs help over top or inside and if he doesn't get it he gets beat deep, every week we watch the same thing.

i think hes supposed to alot of the time, but Troy plays out of position and that exposes the corners.

I can't blame IKE in this game....

It is the safties.... too slow, and I don't if they are guessing wrong or it is the coaching, but they have no help over the top.

They got beat on the same long play that Calvin Johnson had just last week....

Really?? You guys are blaming Ike? Ike has covered every receiver and shut most of them down single handedly. Most of the times "he" is being beat is when he is supposed to have help over the top or to the inside and his inside help or top help is out of position. That's why he is so upset, he does his part taking the outside away and forcing them to the help which isn't there. So I can imagine that he goes over to Lebeau and says give me man up coverage and let the others do their zone or whatever. Once he is man to man, he shuts them down. I will admit he has issues with the bigger more physical WR's like Megatron, Demaryous Thomas and Boldin....but I will take Ike on almost any other WR 1 on 1.

Yeah it's really bigoted for all these qb's to target Gay. Maybe we should try and charge them with a hate crime???

Troy was playing at LB last night, though, wasn't he? Though I take your point on other games.

I would rather move Gay to safety than Ike - he's better on blitzes and zone coverage than Ike.

I think it's time to move on from Taylor. I've been a supporter for years but I thinks it's time to move on in the safety position as well.

OK let me get this straight. Taylor takes on the best receiver on the other team, and some of you say he shuts them down. Then when he gets toasted it's the safety's fault with no over the top help. Really? OK.

I'm saying Ike hasn't been a #1 for atleast the past 2years. it we ever get a solid #1 shutdown guy it'll show how bad Ike really is. he only looks half decent
on the Steelers because we have nobody else, put him on Seattle and he would
    be riding the bench
