I thought this would be funny, his game plan for the team with one of the worst offensive lines to run up the middle then run to the left and then try to run a screen pass every single set of downs. The offense gets in 3rd and long almost every single time we try this yet it takes and entire half or to be down by 10 points or more before he finally lets the no huddle be used and what a difference. I said it before and I'll say it again, Todd Haley's offense is more predictable than BA and his offense was terribly predictable, what does that say. We blame our QB for not wanting or seeming as if he didn't want to run Haley's offense and if that is true I can see why, the guy knows the oline, he knows the players strengths and their weaknesses and you can see the difference when he calls plays versus Haley. I'll give Haley some credit, his play designs are very good but he calls a horrible game, he wants to use these inside screens and that stupid draw that doesn't fool anyone and works once every 30 times he runs it.

Personally I saw a fair amount of no huddle in the first half as well. The Steelers actually had a couple of drives where they were on the Ravens side of the field and then it bogged down. It just isn't true that the Steelers started scoring TD's when they went to no huddle.

Suppose Ben just goes on to the field and says "guys let's get in the no huddle" now? What could Haley do? Run out on the field and make everyone huddle? I mean what would happen if he just flat out overruled him? I know Ray Lewis used to do that to his DC.

THe Steelers under Haleys offensive always seems to be playing from behind especially in the first half. Seems to me his game play is to struggle the first half, make some adjustment the second half and then in the fourth quarter make the game close. Hard for a Steelers fan to watch. In last nights game we had more first downs by seven, more total yards, more passing yards, zero sacks, no fumbles, fewer penaltie yards and more time of possestion, looking at that would think that would be a winner but not so with Haley game plan. This team always seems to come out of the gate flat and play from behind, then as the game goes on they seem to perk up, I don't know maybe its the coaching, maybe its the age of the players, or maybe it's lack of leadership, but yea I agree, they have to start somewhere to make things better so why not start with Haley.

The gameplan you've just described has been the way we've played for a good few years now, well before Haley.

It was kind of what I was hoping Haley would move us away from...

Yeah it's not exactly like we lit up the scoreboard when BA was here either. We're just not built to be explosive. We're just a more methodical type of a team. The Saints we are not.

    1. The defense gave up 22 points. Not Haley's fault.
    2. The kick coverage team gave up a HUGE return to Jones following a TD. Not Haley's fault.
    3. Suisham false-started on a FG attempt. Not Haley's fault that it happened or that wasn't called by the refs--had it been the Steelers would have punted and field position would have been different.
    4. Beachum and Velasco went out with injuries, and Decastro was hobbled. Not Haley's fault.
    5. The offense, once again, started every drive around its own 20 or worse. Not Haley's fault.

Starting the game with 3straight run plays to start off the game horrible. HALEY'S fault. We are never aggressive early in games so we are always down. Last week was first week we scored on first drive I think

I agree. However...I don't have a problem with Haley wanting to establish the run early on. I have no problem with him wanting to shove the ball down the Ravens' throats and start the game with a 8:00 long TD drive. I mean: isn't that what everyone was clamoring for when he was hired? To re-establish the run?

As for the 3rd and long draw play? Eh. But I can see where they simply wanted to gain SOME field position there, as opposed to punting from 10.

Wow! How many on here over........say, 30, EVER thought you would see someone wish our offense was as productive as the Saints'?
I agree with what you say, BFT but, the Saints??? the NFL world is backwards! Good thing the Chokers gave up on Brees! He sucks!!!!!!!!

Funny, for 2 weeks everyone was like yeah, offense is clicking, Haley and Ben have figured it out, enter bad game.....FTHI! :lolol:

In case anyone didn't notice, Ravens still have a pretty good defense. I'll wait and see how the season finishes before making a judgment. See if the prior 2 weeks was for real or a fluke.

I actually thought the offense was pretty good, not stellar, but decent. If they could have closed out a couple of those drives even for FG in the first half, the game might have been a different story. The defense allowed 6 of 7 drives to score, but at least some were FG. Overall, I see a lot of things to criticize, but generally I still think the Steelers played pretty good - what can you say, it was just a tough loss.

In all fairness to Haley, Ben was a bit off with some of his throws early or maybe it was the receivers, either way not really Haley's fault.

It's amazing how both of our franchises really heavily mirror each other. We also have a "pretty good" defense but you used to be able to say we had a "great" or "elite" defense and you could say the same about them. Now our offenses can't seem to really do all that much either.

I would give him another year. With a strong look at the remaining games. I definitely don't want us switching coorinators every year. Ben doesn't have much longer before he will be done or skills diminishing.

i wanna know who's calling the play we run after we have driven the field, getting first downs, moving down the field like a machine and after a run of say 3 on first down we always throw deep into double or triple coverage and it breaks our momentum and we are near scoring position but, come up short on 3rd and long because we threw away 2nd down? WTF. they do it constantly.

I guess what it comes down to is that Haley is a good offensive mind, who just has no idea how to call an NFL football game. He has some really nice plays, I'd just be a lot more comfortable with Ben calling Haley's plays instead of Todd calling them. IDK if anyone caught this on the last TD drive we had, but Ben looked back to the sideline and said "no f'ing way". Apparently Haley called a play that Ben didn't like and instead elected to run Bell for what turned out to be a touchdown (that wasn't a touchdown?). Anyways, I just think Haley's "system" has grown on me... but his skills as a playcaller have not. Idc if it's no huddle or not, Ben needs to be calling the plays the whole game.

Okay, my bad - I thought it may have been around 10 or 11 plays, but I guess not.

Seems over the last month, the offense has been doing pretty well. At this pace, I don't expect Haley to be fired.

I think I still do expect him to be gone. I'm really on the fence about it. If the question was "do I want him gone?" I would say yes. But since the question is "will the Rooney's fire him?" I really don't know.
