I have to give Tomlin the benefit of the doubt. I can understand standing there engrossed in the game with all the noise, watching it on the jumbotron and not aware of the runner approching from behind. From hearing him down through the years I think he is an honest and upstanding man. We are not talking about Bellicheat here, so no way do I want to put our coach in that category.

It was a pretty pathetic move by Tomlin. Not sure what the right thing to do is, but I think the Rooneys need to do something.

Even if it was an accident , the Head coach should be a little more aware of what he's doing than that.

I agree - what they need to do is not overreact to something which, in the grand scheme of a season that has raised so many questions, and that could yet still be salvaged, is not particularly important.

He was only on the field by an inch or two, don't know how perfect you want him to be but we all have an opinion.

Meh, think it's being blown way out of proportion. Everyone is screaming about cheating but how many times are things excused by way of gamesmanship? When a player knows he didn't catch the ball but pretends he did, hows that not cheating? I think this is mostly just people who don't like Tomlin to begin with now have something else to pile on.

So many other things about last night piss me off that I couldn't care less about this.

Are we conveniently forgetting that back in 1997 Cowher almost threw a punch (Woody Hayes style) on a Jags player when he returned a blocked FG attempt along the sideline?

That, to me, was a bigger black eye for the organization than Tomlin's "interference."

Coaching involves watching your players, being involved in the game not being a fan or spectator (like us) and watching the jumbotron. I can understand the replay - but as a coach shouldn't you be seeing whether guys are in position as opposed to the highlight of the runner streaking down the sideline. By the way, I am not on the fire Tomlin bandwagon and I have indicated that he does have some strengths in terms of being a head coach, but in terms of building something from the ground up I just don't think he has it.

BF you know I'm not a Tomlin basher, and I'm not looking for some knee jerk reaction from the Rooneys, but something needs to come of it.
When you talk about players sportsmanship I think it's quite a bit different, being that a coach should never get physically involved in a play on the field. It defiantly affected the returner, he said so much in the post game interview.

Hey, at least Tomlin didn't do this:

I'm withholding judgment on this and, quite frankly, I'm a little surprised at the rush to judgment on this board by some who have, in the past, chastised others for jumping to conclusions too quickly.

LOL...that's the play. Here's a trivia question: Who was the Ohio State QB that threw that pick?

I wasn't throwing you in that group, you know the posts I'm talking about. But I'm sorry, i don't see how this is different, what you are doing is trying to rationalize how cheating is acceptable sometimes and not other times. This really isn't a big deal, they never even made contact, the runner never even broke stride, just veered to the right, had he continued going straight, Allen still would have caught him.

I'm not trying to rationalize cheating. Fact is Tomlin impacted the play and a coach just shouldn't do that. He crossed the line plain and simple.

My argument is it wasn't Tomlin being bush league. My argument is it is a picture of head coach who was clueless as to what was going on until the last half second when he figured out he might be in the way of Jones coming up the sideline.

Withholding judgement for what? How is there a rush to judgement? I can only see that being the case for those who didn't get a chance to watch the game.
