Woodley = garbage. He had a nice run. Now he looks more like a special teamer making 61mm over 6 years.

Because it would help the team and his skills are diminishing not to mention he is coming off an injury, nope wait that was all the reasons fans gave for Harrison taking a paycut, no way they would say the same thing about a younger player. Would they?

We're talking about Worlids commanding a huge contract, but I'd be intrigued to know what the rest of the league thinks of him.

He has played well this season and last (even though a lot of people were calling for his head in preseason and the first few weeks of this season), relative to where he was playing from. Is that enough for a team to make a big offer? Could be, could be not.

    It's not a leading question, I honestly don't know.

I agree. Plus I think it would be more beneficial to sign Velesco then Worilds.

If Worilds keeps up this performance he would be a fool to resign to be a backup. He's going to make some serious coin next year for another team. Just hope it's in the NFC.

Wasn't Woodley a DE in college? Is that an option for him in the Steelers D when he returns? Assuming he isn't to small, just some food for thought.

He's been ineffective in a few games he's played in this year. He had one game, I forget which one, where get played the ENTIRE game and had 0 sacks, 0 tackles and 0 hurries. He disappeared. Maybe his calf was mooing.

If Worlids continues to play like he does some team will pay him close to starter money....

It would have been nice if Jarvis and Woodley would have been healthy all year and had good years. That way we could hide Worlids as a strong back up. Chris Carter and other OLB's we have aren't as good as Worlids.

I still think they should have given Worlids a legit shot at starter and not drafted Jarvis. I like Worlids speed around the edge.

Jarvis has a nose for the ball and the propensity for "splash" plays, but I wouldn't put him in the elite pass rusher category. He is going to have to work on that.

in a 4-3 in college. definitely not in our 3-4 as a DE.

there are guys with Woodley's skillset out there. without a really good OLB on the other side Woodley's ability is average at best when he's the main pass rusher. Colbert failed to consider that when he threw all the money at him. losing Harrison made Woodley very average and not near worth his contract numbers, but we are stuck now. at least one more year. I don't think worilds will be that hard to replace either. heck maybe carter is better from the left too?

there are a lot of differences in playing on the right or left. it's not just more comfortable for the player rushing from one side or the other. Woodley doesn't have the game to just shift to the right side.

I think we get ahead of ourselves when we say Woodley stinks. He doesn't, the guy is still a good pass rusher on a team that really is a bit devoid of pass rushers right now so he often commands a little more attention or at least awareness by the QB. It was a lot different when Harrison was in his prime on the other side. The problem is he is paid way too much for the value he brings to the team. Timmons probably is too, but I have less of a problem w/Timmons because I think he is a far more complete player. Harrison was too.

I think there was a post here the other day about how lopsided the salary has been over the years for the defense compared to the offense, especially the O Line which brings me back to my heavy criticism of Colbert. I still think he needed to make a fundamental shift in how to pay players once we made the commitment that we were going to sign a franchise QB. Teams like NO and NE routinely jettison good to really good players because they know they have to build around the idea of the franchise QB. And so they seek value in mid to above average free agents to fill spots...ala Aquib Talib for NE or Keenan Lewis for the Saints. Its a recognition that the salary cap has to always be approached from a value perspective especially in light of having to pay a top flight QB who commands dollars in terms of paying him and hopefully giving him weapons and solid protection.

I venture to think, with some good scouting and draft picking the Steelers probably could have found a LB probably not as good as Woodley, but at least productive for a lot less money.

to be paid as such, Woodley has lost some drive, gets frustrated, takes plays off and needs to lose some weight to gain back some quickness. they are on to his bullrush and they can use it to exploit him in the run game, where added quickness would help him regain his ability as more then just a pass rusher.

he's lost some complete LB skills with the loss of harrisons ability from the other side #1. that's any guy playing opposite a great player. don't forget farrior. Woodley didn't have to be as complete, because we had guys around him that did so much. now he's the focus of attention. his lesser skills in some areas come to light now. though he's still making huge money.

wood has never been stellar against the run. he's gained weight which slows his change of direction. we need him as more of an all around LB instead of the designated pass rusher.

dropping 20lbs. would help him and maybe his legs. if not , your right we can do better or at least as good for far less money.

Like so many Steeler players Woodley and Worilds lack consistency. We need
PLAYMAKERS to play every week. I love Lawerence Timmons physical skills, he is really
our only defensive playmaker. Yet he fails to show up for games also week in week out. I was never a Woodley supporter, Had one good year and boom
wrecks our cap numbers as have others.Woodley has really hoodwinked the Steelers. Biggest game to date and he can't go.You would have to shoot me for me to not want to suit up against our most hated rival. Thanks Lamaar.

    Truth!
Unfortunately they are stuck with Woodley. Please, PLEASE don't restructure him. Again. Maybe they can trade him? :lolol: Don't see it but that's the only way to rid of him. Maybe his @ss sitting on the sidelines might be some motivation? I doubt it. He got the contract and went Hollywood, forgetting how he got there. The hunger went to the buffet table. And he is off injured. It's a shame Steeler friends, but Woodley is here to stay.

Kobe is a bad example. He's in the twilight of his career, has more money then he knows what to do with and most importantly, is one ring short of tying Jordan, (which allegedly is something he wants). At this point in his career, he should be working on cementing his legacy, which is very important to Kobe. If he would take a completely unselfish approach, they could build a team that would blow away the Heat in star power.

Woodley is a different story, for him to take a pay cut is admitting, yeah, I'm not worth this so please take my money back. Not happening.
