Da beard is getting older and hood is in his last year and hasn't shown he is a starter. We have Arnfelt on the PS and he looked good in camp and the preseason but that's camp and the preseason. Aaron Donald has 3-4 DE written with exception of his height at only 6 foot he will have some trouble batting down balls but will be able to get under the LT on the way to the QB. So if he is there in the second do you take him? I keep going back and forth on it but DL is a big part of our defense but do we really take another DE that high?

Yep, we have some guys in the pipeline, we also have Embernate on the other side of the ball, I'm hopeful for all three of those guys.

I'm no expert, but I believe height is a pretty big deal when it comes to 5-techniques. NTs can be shorter (Hampton is 6'1") because for them it can be more about leverage, just getting underneath and holding ground and driving back. For the DEs, they need the height and arm length to keep the OTs at bay and shed them in a way that NTs don't. How tall are Keisel, Heyward, Hood and Aaron Smith? I believe 6'5", 6'5", 6'3", and 6'4", respectively. 6'0" is a big drop. It's not just about batting down balls, it's about extending and getting off blocks.

That said, I know nothing about this guy and for all I know he could be great. But hypothetically, I do not want to draft that position high anyway. We need CBs and OL, plus a couple other positions I'd take before DE.

Has a BIG motor, he will make someone a good ball player. I am trying not to be to biased.I am concerned where he may fit in though, he is a tweener.Bill Fralic
    calls him a difference maker.
