cotch has been lighting it up for us lately. he has to be accounted for by teams more and more. he's a good blocker too.

bell also has to be accounted for. I think he's becoming so much of a threat, teams will have to game plan a little different against us. same with cotchery now.

contrary to some fans popular belief, bell brings us that ray rice threat of receiver and runner as he was a couple of years ago. sure he may not be clicking off 100 yard games rushing but combined with receptions, he's bringing enough big plays, that he becomes a big part of the offense to account for.

AB we know has to be accounted for.

this leaves heath and sanders. I like sanders, first off, but something is missing with how we are using him. he's our #2 receiver. he's always played slot. would it benefit us to move cotch to the #2 spot and put him back in the slot? what to do with wheaton that just hasn't risen to the playmaker status yet that we may have thought. i'm not saying he won't. (injury and missing mini camps) have hurt him this year.

do we start moving away from sanders some now? do we even try to sign him or cotchery? cotchery is the bigger of the 3. he's 6-1. he's only 31. he was never overly used in his career. mostly a #3 for the jets. he and ben have always had a good feel for each other. we probably would have a cheaper re-sign with cotch over sanders, well maybe.

we have two tall receivers in the pipeline. brown and moye. I like both. wheaton, AB, cotchery?? next year? kahlif barnes is still here too. will we even draft one? UDFA maybe?

we have some legit threats on offense, that defenses have to plan around. this should help heath down the road too. he did a lot of blocking last week. palmer and Paulson got a couple of shots too. we need a TE to add to heath. Johnson was looking better and could have made a difference with heath back. two years, two season ending injuries for DJ though. spaeth, never saw the field yet. has knee trouble and foot trouble. should we keep any of them? why was Gordon brought here?

this backfield also needs signed, including jones.

I loved that they finally used willj again. he just adds to what defenses have to account for. I hope it opens their eyes about trying to force feed a 2nd TE into the game.

keeping heath in blocking this year a little more, using willj more, using cotchery as the #2, bell as a runner and receiver, sanders and wheaton mixed in , in the slot and at #2 (which allows us to move jco around), we are starting to free up what teams have to account for. opening up this offense has helped our o-line too.

Yes we start moving away from Sanders. Hind sight is 20/20 but right now I wish we had that 3rd round pick for him. I would activate Moye. Sanders unless he wants not a lot of money will not be a Steeler next year. Injury issues and probably going to ask for a too much money.

Wheaton is a rookie. It takes some time to adjust to the NFL game. Especially at WR. Right now if you have to give me a choice I take Cotchery vs. Sanders because Cotchery seems to be starting to fill that Hines Ward role. Dependable 3rd down WR.

Agree about Sanders. He lost focus as soon as the Dolphins stroked a $60 million check to his "Young Money (Hungry) Crewmate" Wallace.

kahlif barnes = Kashif Moore? :smiley1:

IMO Sanders is gone and they will try to keep Cotchery at the vet minimum, or maybe just a tad more. If they draft a reciever, I'm thinking it will be in the late rounds. J. Brown and Moore will both be given a chance to battle it out.

As far as Tight Ends, other than Heath, they all lack consistancy. I'd MRI both Spaeth knees today and have surgery tomorrow if there is even a thought of bringing him back next year. I'd likely bring back only Palmer and Paulson and let them battlle it out with whoever we draft. Heath's contract will need to be reworked and I don't think that will be all that big of issue.

RB's ... Bell, Dwyer, and either Jones or LSH.
I'd like to see someone younger and with better speed replace Jones & LSH, but it would almost have to be the 2nd coming of Willie Parker, cause we won't be drafting a RB before the 6th or 7th round.

Ooops I forgot all about Will Johnson. :lolol:

moore, barnes whateva LOL yes your right, I couldn't remember and didn't feel like lookin.

I also didn't want to make this about sanders, I think we try to use him this year, just differently, and less. he's still a decent receiver for us.

I do think Paulson should go. I like the hawkeye. I may even grab 2 in this draft. it's got some good ones and we already see we could use two. they are to hard to come by anymore.

I would like to see them try a sampler of a 2-back set yet this year with Bell and Dwyer at the same time, to see if they could get some mis-direction working.

I'd like to see a wish-bone set from time to time. We've seen just about every thing else. Imagine a half-back option pass out of the wish-bone set.........

I said earlier when the wildcat formation showed up, that we have a perfect trio to run a wing T... It's gimmicky for sure, but man that'd bee cool to mix in.
