There was a video I saw on twitter yesterday of all the fans leaving the game vs the Lions at halftime. I guess they were expecting another blowout like the Patriots game. They were probably kicking themselves after seeing the Steelers came back and won.

It's embarrassing! And it's not just those who attend the game, it's the one's watching on TV too.

close to/at halftime half the stadium leaves and goes to the bathroom, to smoke, to get food or something...so if your talking around that time...thats a good reason why...while some could have left it was still a close game around then also 20-27 I think...so yeah...who knows...who cares...haha

I was there... Alot of empty seats in the stadium, especially at the end of the game so some definitely left early. Also, a lot of Lions fans in the house too.

Some of it could have been the rain too, we stayed until the end, but if you weren't prepared for the weather it could have been a rough one.

...but yeah a lot of people get food and what not at halftime.

    Ha Ha.
Nope, wasn't there. If you follow me closely (ok, even closer than you already do) you'd know that I get 5 games a year...1 preseason and 4 regular season. The tickets are my mother in laws and she is in her late 70s and is too old to want to go anymore. I buy 1/2 the games and an ex coworker of hers buys the other 1/2. Its been this was for the last dozen or so years. Yesterdays game was game #5, but I could not attend as it was my wife's weekend to work and I had to be responsible for the 3 kids including picking up the oldest after a camping trip at noon yesterday. When Im unable to go I always sell for face value. When the Steelers are good this usually isn't a problem. But getting rid of those tickets yesterday was like getting rid of nuclear waste. I made the usual contacts, but EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM declined. I ended up giving them for free to an old HS friend so he could take his 8 year old son. This guy is usually one of my go to guys, but he couldn't find anyone to go with him. I would have gone with him had I not had to pick up my son.

But when I do go, Im always there to the end. One guy who goes to a lot of the games with me is a premature leaver and he's been pissed plenty of times that I refuse to leave until its over. One of those games that I made him stay was the GB 4 years ago where Wallace caught the last second TD pass. ;) It was bitter cold that day too.

I've said for years now that the Steelers fans are just as fair weathered as any other fan base. I've seen it first hand. When they're out of it...and its cold...and its late in the season...fans just don't go. Period. It may still be a 'sell out', but there just aren't many asses in the seats. Attendance for the Buffalo game was 60,000 or about 90% of capacity. That atrocious. There was no wait at McFaddens 2 hrs before kick off too. It was a ghost town compared to years past. And I've seen worse. That GB game was 57,000. And if they don't turn it around and start stacking some wins, that Cleveland game at the end of the year just might set records for attendance (the wrong kind of records).

That wasn't THAT many people leaving.
The start of the second half is always empty. And when attendance is low to begin with it looks worse. I know that there have been a lot of games where I've got up from my seat, stood in line to pee, then stood in line for nachos and a beer, and not made it back for the start of the third quarter. When you're at the game, I swear 1/2 time is 5 minutes long.

I just looked and there were only 57,000 yesterday. Wow thats low. It's entirely possible that there will be less than 50,000 at Browns game.

Only averaging 93% capacity so far this year. Double

When they built that stadium a guy I work with asked why in the h*ll did they ever put in those ugly yellow seats. I said I think it's awesome and he said but after Korky throws his third Interception it'll just look like a giant banana after all the fans leave. It still cracks me up to this day.

There was 7,000 no shows yesterday and on the post game people were calling and complaining about the fans and how they need to get to the stadium because this team needs all the help they can get with crowd noise and hostility. They said there were about 5-6,0000 Lions fans there. Also another guy called and said that he's sick of people going to games and talking about picking their kids up and going to the grocery store and all these things that have nothing to do with football. He should troll them by saying "that's not Steeler related". LOL. There are some that would...

What Bobby said is exactly the truth! Now I was born and grew up around here and have scalped tickets many times over the years, USUALLY when a big timer
(Calvin Johnson) comes to town they usually
have no problem with attendance #s.But with the team that they are putting out on the field, I am not so sure the casual fan would care to sit in cold weather to watch the product on the field.I am sure the Rooney's are watching.I think if they improve the product you will see less and less of this. You did not see this thru the dynasty years. May I also add I was going between the Dolphins and NO game and noticed quite a few MT seats at the Dolphin stadium also. Their metro area would be twice our size.I guess what I am getting at is there is only so much
    disposable income to go around.
And if you are a casual fan and have a choice between a mediocre to poor football team
    and?

i thought all the tickets were sold out
if so why would the rooneys care if they come to the game or not if the tickets are sold?

Lot of other money lost when fans don't show up regardless if the tickets are paid for. Plus it's just a bad look for what's supposed to be one of the best organizations in all sports, who are supposed to also have some of the most supportive fans.

The wind and the rain probably had the most to do with it.

I don't think many people left at halftime, it was crappy and rainy and most people went to the concourse to get dry or stay out of the rain for 15 minutes, or go pee, get a beer/have a smoke, or the such. I talked to a buddy who said their were about 7-8000 no shows, which is sad. I saw a lot of Lions fans on TV too. But let's face it the team was 3-6 heading into the game, bad weather etc. I bet there was tons of people looking to get rid of tickets. If the weather is even remotely bad during the game I see all kinds of season ticket holders trying to get rid of singles or doubles, because the wife didn't want to come sit in the rain etc.

Plus you have to realize the most people that have season tickets have had them in the family for 40 years some of them, so going to games loses it's allure, Unlike some of us that get to go to a few games a year or one every 4-5 years and the allure is there regardless. So people that have season tickets, the only allure is a winning team, if the team doesn't win, they don't have the drive to go as much, as you see the 7-8000 no shows. I only live an hour and half from Pittsburgh, but selling out a couple hundered bucks for tickets, parking, gas, and food is harder to do when I think the team might get throttled and blown out. If I had know it be such an awesome game, like Sunday's was, I might have gone.

But, all the seats or sold, so it's still a sell out!!

Fair weather fans, yeah try sitting in cold rain for 4 hours watching a 3 win team on the field. I can't blame some of them for leaving.

But personally I only have time to get to one game a year or so, and I stay the entire time rain or shine, snow or blistering heat.

Saw RGIII last year and it rained the virtually the entire game. Chicago a few years ago in a blizzard, and New England in the sub zero championship game. Stayed until the end in all those bad weather games.... difference was, those teams were competitive and put a good product on the field.
