Not buying it. I'm happy we won but I don't want this organization to say "see we won now shut up and let us keep doing what we're doing." This team has a bunch of problems that have been going on for several years and they're not being fixed.

Let's see where we are in 6 weeks, but winning cures a lot of ills. I've been as big a critic as anybody, especially of the coaching, but if the team continues to win I'll be happy to pass along my kudos to the coaching staff for clawing themselves out of the hole they created at the beginning of the year.

Consistency is our biggest problem, it was wildly on display in this game, we looked as good as can be at times and as bad as can be. Fortunately more good then bad today.

This is a bad excuse for the Ben haters. MANY people have said he sucks. Stop denying it. The guy is the best QB we've had in 30 years. He's playing fine with a bad OL. We have a super bowl contending QB and the entire fan-base knows it, but it's easy to blame the QB when the rest of the team is failing. So easy. And you all do it.

Yeah there is NO WAY you let him get away. He's still in his early 30s. Definitely has at least another 5 year extension left in him.

And you see what he can do when not running for his life every play. Yes non believers, its really that simple, the line dictates everything!

I don't believe Ben has played up to his potential on a consistent enough basis. As a result, the offense didn't always play up to it's potential. The entire issue throughout Ben's career is we don't know which Ben will show up from week to week. If Ben can play with more consistency then the team will have a shot at making the playoffs this year.

Here's where I'd like to be in six weeks.

In the playoffs because we won enough games to win a weak division and we have a front office that acknowledges that it needs to improve:

    1. Coaching
    2. Oline
    3. Age of the defense and the pressure it brings
    4. Punting
    5. Red zone offense
    6. Relationship with its QB and OC
    7. Running game (fix the Oline and get a real fullback back in the mix)

I think we've got a real fullback in Will Johnson. He's just under-utilized.

And I'm glad you're not one of those guys who wants us to crap out the rest of the season so we'll get a better draft pick. There are a few of those around even though there's way too much season left for that and, believe it or not, we still have a shot! :yeehaw::yeehaw::yeehaw::yeehaw:

I've been watching the Steelers since the mid 70's and I've seen pretty much every type of win there is. The all count the same.

If you're not going to re-sign Ben, who you going to replace him with? It took the Steelers 20 years after Bradshaw retired to find another franchise QB. So I say let Ben retire as a Steeler sign him to a cap friendly deal.

My only concern with winning out is that they won't make the changes they need to get back to being a real contender. I like what I've seen of Johnson and that's why I say "in the mix." We don't have enough sets with lead blocker. Funny thing is that seems to be making a comeback in the league.

But would winning out not make us a real contender?

I really believe that we have some good, young talent on this team and winning out would certainly indicate to me that some of them are really starting to get it. I think Tomlin is establishing his legacy now. We'll see what he's made of and I hope he proves the critics (myself included) wrong and shows that he is the kind of HC that can save a sinking ship.
