Look at all these Heisman Trophy winners who didnt make it. And look at who are just avg. Then think about the others who were nominated who didnt make it. Maybe Ben is part of the problem, maybe he doesnt study film, blah blah blah. But hes not going to be THAT easy to replace. As the saying goes, you dont throw the baby out with the bath water.

You might want to recheck your numbers, Crouch's are way off 1,510 passing and 1,115 rushing; I didn't go beyond that. :smiley1:

What about the decade before Cowher? I'll put money down that we will go through at least 2 QBs before finding Bens replacement, that's easily 4 years. Milk Ben for as long as you can. I'm open to your plan of action, just not for another couple years, I want to square some other positions away first.

you can blame him if you want but he has 4 with no losses. cowher was 1-1 in 15 years. big difference.

And Cowher had final choice on all draft picks while Donahoe just sat back right?

You can't just have Ben for a couple years and that's it. It's not as easy as that. Ben is not going to accept a 2-3 year deal. If you want him for another few years, that means resigning him for a long term deal. We can't just get out of it after 2-3 years. It's absolutely ridiculous to want to resign Ben to a long term deal worth $20+ million per year. The guy can barely stay healthy as is and it's quite obvious that he isn't good enough to carry this offence like the other elite QB's in the league. It makes zero sense to give him a contract extension, because we'll be stuck with him for a long time to come and we will continue to suck for a long time to come

You misunderstand me. I think it's too soon to start looking for his replacement this coming draft, I wouldn't start looking for another 2 years, by then I think ben will have another 3 good years left. I'm looking at 5 more years of Ben, not 2.

I hope the Rooneys disagree with you or this franchise is going to be in big trouble. We will never again be a SB contender with Ben, he's simply not good enough. Whether we keep him or not, he's going to be completely washed up in a couple years.

I couldn't disagree with you more! I went to the Pats game. I sat in the third row behind the Steelers bench. I know what I saw. I saw a QB who was engaged in the game. I saw a QB that was pumping up those around him. Talking up Bell, Jones and Dwyer when the running game was getting stuffed. Talking with the WR's and Heath. Giving a pep talk to the O-line. Low fiving everyone in the pregame warmups. You know what else I saw? I saw too many players and coaches who didn't give a damn. When Ridley of the Pats second-efforted his way into the end zone, I saw the look in Woodley's eye when he came to the bench - didn't care. I saw everyone on the O-line except Velasco sit like bumps on a log on the bench. Not looking at schematics, not talking strategy, not cheering. Just sitting there. Decastro was in street clothes and I don't think he said one word the whole game. Keisel tries hard, but a lot of those guys on the D line give up on plays. They don't believe in pursuit. The coaches - where is the fire? Lebeau looks half asleep. Haley doesn't spend much time talking to his players. Tomlin was subdued. It is easy to blame Ben for our current mess but you are wrong. He is one of the only reasons we still have a chance to win any games. You want to see this team win more games? Then fire the coaches - all of them. I did not feel that way until I saw with my own eyes the lack of desire and spirit on the sidelines.
