If they do part ways, Arizona is certainly the landing spot, Bidwel has the money to pay him.

I hope your willing to negotiate some Freak.

Edit: That's a really good starting point for us, but once a team sees Ben's medical history and conducts their own physical, we could never get that much.

If we lose him, Id love that but I think 1 1st and 2 2nd is the best we could hope for.

I really wish this thread would just go away. Not because of anything anyone has said but just the very THOUGHT of not having Ben is almost more than I can bare. I want Ben here for the rest of his career. I don't understand why people talk about "windows" closing but not consider the fact that losing Ben would DEFINITELY close the window. With Ben we have a shot at a "window" but you don't know that you could have that same shot with some risk in the draft or even free agency. Ben Roethlisberger gives this team a shot to win every game they are in. The thoughts of getting rid of him is so utterly dumb that I can't even tell you. Bobby where are you!!!??? I know that not many of us want to see him go but I'm even of the opinion that I don't even wanna THINK about him being gone.

Like I've been saying, Ben needs to use his noggin for something more than just a helmet rack.

My preference is to keep Ben too, BFT. But we've got to face the possibility that the Steelers at least entertain the idea of trading him for multiple high draft picks to set themselves up for the future. Ben's taken a pounding and I'm somewhat frustrated that the Haley experiment has not worked the way I initially envisioned it. Part of that is on Haley but I really believe that the bulk of the blame resides squarely on Ben's big shoulders. I don't think he does enough to focus on the cerebral part of his game which is equally as important as the physical part, especially as a quarterback ages and loses some of his physical prowess.

And one last thing and this is just me surmising a bit. I believe when Ben was accused of sexual assault for two straight off seasons, including the off season that he signed the huge contract, the Rooneys lost a lot of confidence in him. I'm not so sure they've ever completely gotten over it and have fully forgiven Ben for sullying one of the most reputable franchises in all of sport. I know that he's seemingly put those issues behind him but apparently Dan and especially Art II were absolutely seething when that took place. They explored the possibility of a trade then so it's not beyond the realm of possibility that they would do so again.

Thursday Night Football halftime show just brought the subject up again.
The bad news, they said Tomlin's job is safe!

Did you hear them saying during the halftime show that Kevin Colbert is watching the Clemson game tonight where "Tajh Boyd is starring"? I don't know anything about him at all but do you think they're looking at him in case this goes down with Ben?

Could be. He also watched Teddy Bridgewater a couple of weeks back. The Steelers need to keep their options open in case they can't get a contract done with Ben. It's the prudent thing to do.

Colbert should be watching QBs in college every year. Even if Ben is good for another 5 years, why not find his replacement (See Aaron Rodgers). I'm officially tired of the NFL Network guys (Rapoport in particular) who keep saying Ben wants to leave. Ben wants Haley gone and so does everyone else. That's a done deal. Without Ben, we are the Browns. It will be the Steelers in the 80s all over again. Everyone remembers how bad that sucked right?

Maybe, but it's impossible to say. Colbert goes to these games every week every year. They'd be foolish not to scout every top prospect just in terms of due diligence.

Yeah it's the fact that they are saying he wants to leave that is killing me. I'm sure they always keep an eye on top prospects but NFLN is saying this stuff with the insinuation that it's to get Ben's replacement and that's REALLY irritating. The ONLY positive I can see coming from this would be that Ben comes out swinging and slinging Sunday and really puts these instigators in their places.

It just seems so sad. It's like the beginning of the end of all these great years we've had. I know that we can't stay on or near the top forever but to think they would get rid of Ben to satisfy Haley is just way too much for me to comprehend. I think Ben will be back next season and Haley will not. I really think since Ben has a little time left on his contract they should let him get "his" type of oc and prove that he's worth keeping and if he's not then they should let him walk. I feel like he has earned that.

I'm more prone to believe that Ben wants rid of Haley rather than the other way around.

That's what I MEANT to put! LOL! I better change that because if I don't people will read that and might be outside my house with pitchforks. LOL. Hey Jack I'm gonna talk some codespeak here. That thing we been talking about came to pass over the weekend with 100% approval. It is now official. How are things in Ft. Wayne or South Carolina? That's some really good codespeak isn't it?

I couldn't agree with you more. That being said, I'll be wearing a #7 bumblebee jersey this weekend. Love me some Ben, hate me some Haley. So I'm biased.

Yeah I'm a HUGE Ben fan even though in reality I am only 5'4. I am probably the world's biggest 5'4 Ben fan. My son is named after him and I just love watching him in a Steelers uni and I am on record as saying that I literally would not take any other qb in the league over him to play on this team.

Ha, at 5'7" I'm a bigger fan than you! Honestly, if Ben was traded, I'd own his jersey from the new team as long as it wasn't the Patriots, Cowboys, Bengals, Browns, or Ravens. Still a Steelers fan for life. I've never been to Canton and hope my first time will be when Ben is inducted.

:lolol: Excellent "codespeak", my friend. And CONGRATULATIONS to you! Big weekend planned for you know who in SC this very weekend. Stay tuned...

Pretty good at that codespeak myself, huh? Everyone else reading this is saying, "wha??!!"

Ya know what's funny is that when the rumors like this surfaced in 2010 people were asking me what I thought about it and I was so mad that Ben had put himself in such a compromising position and I said "I don't care if he goes. My loyalty is to the Black and Gold and not to Ben." But in this case I really feel like I would never truly be able to embrace his replacement if he came in under these circumstances where I felt like Ben got dissed. It would be a grave injustice for Ben to finish his career in anything other than a Steelers Uni and running for his life taking all of our breath away with a death defying td pass. That's how I think of Ben in my mind.
