I was thinking back to the personal foul penalty that Jarvis Jones took during Sunday's game. Tomlin got in his face about it, as he should have. But it appeared as though at one point Jones just turned and walked off, ignoring Tomlin while he was still talking. I can't be certain because I was in a bar without audio, but is that how this transpired? One would think that a player, especially a rookie, would take in everything the coach would have to say, not ignore them and wander off. Is this indicative of a lack of respect on Jones's part, or am I reading too much into this? And if he isn't shown respect from a rookie, does that mean the vets don't respect him either?

There have been many points during this season where I wonder if Tomlin has lost the team. Maybe this showing on the sideline yesterday can shed some light into the truth of this matter?

I absolutely hate Tomlin as a head coach and think he's a joke, but yes, I think the players respect Tomlin. He's a players coach, so players are going to like him

Wow. hate is a strong word. I can see not liking him. And he is a joke? Two Super Bowl trips. One win, one loss. Guess your going to have to hate him for a few more years, so go on Hater...

He didn't mean hate him as a person, just his coaching abilities. But I agree with you, I don't care who was on the roster, you don't get to 2 SB's without being a good coach. People seriously underestimate how difficult it is to get to a SB.

This. Tomlin can't build a team, he's proving that as we speak. He has no idea how to turn around a sinking ship. He took a SB contending team and won with them. Lets not overstate his importance in those SB wins

We will see how good of a coach Tomlin is based on the remainder of this season. If he can turn this thing around and keep the ship from capsizing, he may win a few of us over who are on the fence at this point. As for the players respecting Tomlin, I think they do to a degree. But I also think players can see through the bullcrap too. If they start to perceive Tomlin the way some of us may perceive him, as all talk and little action, that respect may go out the window. The players are looking to Tomlin for leadership, solutions and guidance. Can he deliver? Stay tuned...

Nah, I don't buy that Freak, been many coaches who were handed good teams and did nothing with them, hell, Cowher came directly off a SB and went 8-8. You are also implying that if you field a good team, you don't need a coach, which is completely untrue.

no i don't imply that , i think when cowher left the veterans took the responsability to carry the team and tomlin was bright to leave them do it , hines farrior ben hampton smith .. all they knew what to do to in the locker room to go deep in the playoffs because they just where coming from one (two year before ). why a.smith was kept on the roster till the end of the season (gb sb).. now that tomlin has to do it alone he has troubles
not good players only but veteran oustanding players with fresh experience ..

but is normal , tomlin was a young dc of minnesota what could have done if not leave everything as it was before ?

Hell, Ben's off-season motorcycle accident and in-season surgery, didn't have anything at all to do with that 8-8 record, did it?

Boy are you in for disappointment, Tomlin will be here for a minimum of 3 years and Ben will be here for 5 :lolol:
Tomlins true worth will be measured in these next couple of seasons but I still think he has done a better job then he gets credit for.

Oh, I guess Tomlin doesn't get afforded the same luxury when he has injuries to deal with, got it now, thanks

It didn't go that way. He was shaking his head in agreement while Tomlin was giving him the business, and then they cut to a replay and didn't show any more.

I stand corrected- they did show more of their interaction after the next play. It did sort of look like he was trying to walk away from him while he was still talking, but it's hard to get a complete picture of what was going on. For all we know, he may have been saying 'now get your ass out of here...you're supposed to be waiting to sub in!'

Somebody needs to get in Jarvis Jones' face. He's gone from being a man among boys to being a boy among men. He's getting owned out there week in and week out and that is becoming increasingly disconcerting!

While we are at it, lets not overstate his ability to not be able to turn the team around either. Good grief, glad the Rooneys don't pull the trigger as quick as you do.

While I think Tomlin has his share of short comings, I'm glad the Rooney's aren't as knee jerk as some of the fans. The Steelers have proven their way is the right way to run a team. You have to have stability at the coaching position and firing a guy every few years isn't going to get you very far. I'm confident that if the Rooney's feel Tomlin is not the right guy to lead the Steelers, they'll make a change.
