There were times when Ben looked like he didn't care, IMO.

Not sure what this has to do with labeling a guy a wasted pick after 9 games...

I'm not sure Tomlin is the exact guy that evaluates people. I think Tomlin might not be very good at developing them though.

In this case wouldn't person doing the actual "developing" be our next potential OC, Kirby Wilson? Though once again, just like our new O-Line coach, Tomlin did hire them both. :smiley1:

What troubles me the most about our red zone struggles is that they aren't new. Been this way for years and it doesn't appear to be any closer to getting fixed than it was last year.

What makes a great red zone team? The pats are insane until they get in the red zone and then they struggle too. So I'm really not even sure that poor red zone production is the mark of a "bad" team since teams that obviously are not bad also can struggle in the red zone.

We have a total of 4 touchdowns in our 3 wins this season. Someone pointed out in a past thread how little we've broken the 30 point mark. In this new NFL we need to figure out a way to pile it on, as there will be games where it's needed.

They're up to 18 now in terms of percentage so they're getting better. They also get there more often than we do. Part of their offensive struggle early on may have been part of that but they're scoring now - even without the major drubbing they gave us.

Hard to believe Tomlin cut our best RB. We were lucky he was still available when we needed him. I'd like to lock him up as a complement to Bell, but I'd say he'll be gone after this year.

Yeah the way Tomlin can evaluate talent who would have thought? I dont agree Dwyers our best but he is in our top 2.

Yeah, but smaller sample size skews the stats. Also the type of runs Dwyer is in the game for vs. Bell also skews the stats. It seems like TH likes to run Bell on shotgun draws a lot, and he gets the majority of the carries during the game. Dwyer gets all of the "downhill" short yardage runs, and is almost never used in the normal "flow' (if our offense ever flows at all) of the offense. Sometimes in obvious running downs (3rd and 1... etc.) the defense sells out 8 or 9 guys and the RB squeaks through a crack and there's no one on the back end to stop him. If I remember correctly Dwyer had one of these plays happen and he broke one for like 20 yards (right around half of his 38 yards). Sometimes stats can be used to prove completely opposite points if seen from different points of view haha Dwyers stats would look like Bell's if he had 20+ carries (In the first 3 games without Bell, Dwyer had 15 carries for 48 yards). Our O-Line just sucks lol trust me.

All that aside, I thought both Dwyer and Bell ran pretty well. I think Dwyer will start getting more of Felix Jones' carries in the future if he keeps running well.

Biggest complaint: I was stuck at work and didn't see a single snap. :frustrated:

Oh well, I'll see the Turkey day game anyway.

I think three is about right.

And the same for the Steelers5859 talking about Bell 'dancing'... apparently RBs for the Steelers must only ever run in a straight line. And if they're running for loss after loss, that's fine, as long as they don't try and use any agility whatsoever.

Maybe now people will realize that wasn't Mendy. It's the No-Line. Oh, sorry... that argument only applies for Ben. Never mind that every other RB, since Mendy, has had to start doing some kind of dancing, in the backfield, due to a defender, in his face, prior to the LOS...

Who said anything about Bell being a wasted pick? If we can ever manage to put together a solid offensive line he'll be just fine. His 22 for 57 is a function of a poor ol not his skill set.

I'm impressed he got 57 yards, and for the Lacy lovers, he got around 75 yesterday behind a much better line.

Ben leaves too many points on the field. His play in the RedZone for the most part sucks. He is as good as he ever is going to get.
