It sends a message without costing the rest of the team, it's just a way to get a point across and to try and make him focus more.

About Ben, why do people say crap like this, you don't bench your starting QB for making mistakes, does Brady sit when he throws an Int? Peyton? Breese? Is Grad better then Ben? Is Jones? Ben offers you the best chance to win, period. If you had a better option on the bench they'd be starting.

Doesn't matter if he benches AB.. shuffle's the lines or any other pea brain idea he may drum up he still own's the season! He offered nothing this year other than the team a short rope to hang themselves..now that his back is to the wall he's wants to flex his muscles in front of the Rooney's. He just needs to go away and take that so called OC with him!!!
Let's get this team back on top with competent staffing and quick making excuses for these so called wannabes. :butcher:

I think you're missing my point.
I'm not at all in favor of benching Ben
I just don't think as a coach you are going to get a lot of respect by having punishment that only apply to certain players.
Same could be said of AB, is he not considered the best at his position and gives us the best chance to win or how about Mendy last year?
All I'm saying is if you're going to do it make it available to all or don't do it.

Comparing apples and oranges, everyone knows QB's are treated with a different set of rules and Bens importance to each and every play is light years ahead of Browns importance. Put it this way, whos benching would affect the team more? Same for Mendy and he was no better then anyone else last year, he was playing injured.

Do you think Tomlin is unique in that he benches players? You don't think that happens on other teams? You don't think Belichick does it? Doesn't bench Brady though.

I've seen plenty of QB's benched over the years.

You've seen mostly scrubs benched, comer on Glenn, this is silly, you don't see QB's of Bens stature being benched for throwing an Int or fumbling the ball.

I'm not in favor of benching Ben. Just don't think Tomlin's method of discipline is working.

What would you like him to do? Lot of people here seem to know what he is doing wrong, so what can he do that would be right?

I think you know me well enough to know I'm not a Tomlin or Ben basher.
I have no idea what is the right way to handle some of these situations, that's what the experts are for. I just personally don't like his approach when it comes to discipline. It may be the right way to do it.
Anyway I think you can give me a little lead way about something a rarely complain about. It's not like some who have made it their life's work to complain about Tomlin. Lol

With the way some of these games look, I often wonder just what the hell is going on in "practice".

lol, I know that but it was an honest question, just curious how people feel Tomlin should go about disciplining guys.

In Ben's case ... I'd make him do some extra running for his mistakes. :smiley1:

FOOTBALL! 101 the rule was always for the LBs to "chuck" the TE on your side. How do you let NEs biggest weapon run free off the line of scrimmage? And I'm still waiting for the reason why Cortez Allen wasn't used more often on Gronk.

I still don't get this. There had to be something else going on on the sidelines. I mean you got Troy, Clark, Ike out there screwing up left and right, but you sit your primary receiver down for a series over a missed route?

You know, the guy that shows up early to the training facility and stays late? Yeah, he's the problem with the team....

It sure as hell didn't look like Ben was pointing with his thumb to me. :lolol:

On the other side of the coin Brown was likely pissed that he wasn't getting thrown to enough (he only had 5 recptions, 71 yards, and 1 TD) and that Cotchery was getting too much action.

Remember folks, this is no longer a team we are watching, individual stats, etc. is all anyone is playing for now.

I believe Tom is literally the ONLY Patriot that has absolute immunity. I actually told a guy at work Monday that I think Belichick would fire Kraft if he could. LOL. Bill is like Dale on the ep of King of the Hill where he has to get a real job and works in an office and they give him the job of firing people because since he's an exterminator he loves to kill things and has no sympathy. LOL. That's EXACTLY like Bill!

Montana got benched for Young at one point. That's pretty crazy to think about. But in today's age of guys eating chunks out of your cap you can't really set that guy on the bench when you are paying him so much money. I really don't know how you deal with a guy like that. I mean he is making literally 2 or 3 times more money than you and you are supposed to be his boss? It's just a really weird dynamic.

True, but both those examples were due to injury.
