there are deeper problems then whats on the surface

it's time to revisit this thread.

we are sitting at 2-6 now at the halfway point.

will the rooney's choose to rebuild this around a 31 but starting next year 32 year old qb? will one more draft do it? will two more? ben's last year of his current contract ends after that. at 33.

his following season he will be 34 and that's what they are bidding on. a 34 year old guy that's been beat to death. when will and how will the rooney's choose to go?



I am of the belief that we are not that far away and we can still add pieces around ben now, that will still help whomever they choose to play the 2016 season. which includes upgrading the defense. which is another thread of this type.

 

I'm not sure how close we are or aren't, but I think you got to go for it with Ben. He has proven he is capable. You got to put all your chips in on making a few more SB runs towards the end of his career.

That is why I say make a go of it in Free agency to fill some key starting spots, and deal with the cap consequences later.

 

I was honestly thinking today that Ben might end his career like Elway started his. By that I mean that he might maintain his level of greatness but the guys around him won't be enough to cut it. I really hope this is not the case.

 

When is Ben's contract up? There's no guarantee he would want to stay even if the Steelers want him to.

 

And I think he will for sure want to retire a Steeler.
