...a team with a FRANCHISE (and according to some, ELITE) quarterback in the PRIME of his career has performed this badly for a two season stretch? I think we're 4-11 in our last 15 games and we are getting progressively worse. Has a team ever looked this bad with one of the best quarterbacks in the league in the prime of his career? I'm not sure they have. When you have a franchise (elite) quarterback, you're supposed to have success, right? Can any of my knowledgable MB friends cite any examples of when this phenomenon may have occurred in the past?

Without looking it up (might well be wrong), but possibly either in Bradshaw's 3rd or 4th year. Not sure what his actual recod was, but Noll benched hime for Joe Gilliiam.

But Bradshaw had not really established himself at that point. Ben has. We've heard Ben at least mentioned in the same breath as Manning, Brady, Brees and Rodgers. What is going on?

Brees Had a tough year last year, but the team was in disarray with Bounty Gate and the HC was suspended for the season.

Well we have a good QB that is wild at times, but the D and the dropped passes have let him crash down to earth more often than he uplifted them in the recent past. Not to excuse his own B.S. But Ben didn't lose that game today!

Joe Namath suffered through some terrible seasons with the Jets in the mid-70s.

Oh, I agree. Ben played well enough to win but the team is collapsing around him. Ben isn't faultless, but the coaching staff is wasting the prime years of a great quarterback and that's a scary thought.

This is why I think Tomlin may need to go. People talk of Cowher having losing seasons, but it wasn't with a franchise QB. Tomlin has lost this team, they are not responding to his BS, so he needs to go.

This is probably the closest match, cause IMO we don't have a Head Coach either. :frustrated:

Anyone that has the intestinal fortitude to allow a huge bird of prey that could claw your eyeballs out before you blink to sit on your shoulder can definitely stomach another season with an ineffective head coach! :lolol:

man that horrible. this from a team who in 4 games this year hasn't gained 300 yrds. I know the offense is bad but they can blame injuries to a certain point. the defense has no excuse. the age has finally caught our secondary

What I hate even worse is there is going to be yet another week of sports related website and quasi-journalist poking fun at the Steelers all week. More of these sports funny pages with gifs summing up the Steelers season.

I'd have to debate that Ben is in the prime of his career.

That's fair, Scott. I think Ben is an old 31 because of the beating he's taken over the years thanks to the perennial, pathetic play of his offensive line. But in theory, Ben should be in the prime of his career.

Yeah, this whole debacle is all Bens fault. Not the inconsistent o-line, the defense, etc, etc.
