Would you give Pouncey a second contract?

I think it comes down to the dollars. I think he's spent the past few years living on his pre-draft hype, and the fact that he played well as a rookie starter in a town where rookies never start. I haven't seen anything more than an average center since then. He's pretty solid run blocking, but he's a borderline liability in pass protection. I haven't done any kind of snap by snap count, but to my eyes we give up much less pressure up the middle now that Velasco is manning the center spot. That's the guy that I extend - at probably 1/4 the guaranteed money.

I think Pouncey's physical traits make him better suited to the LG position, but I don't see that move happening.

The question is, will pouncey want to resign with us..... you can only be taken out by your own teammates so often before you start thinking about your career.

are you blaming Pouncey because he was hit from behind by one of our own players?

Of course you give him another contract, look at the players that have contracts now that shouldn't.

It is going to be some tough negotiations. He needs to balance what is has experienced in the Steelers organization versus the desire to play pro ball with his brother and if one or the another would be happy playing guard instead of center.

Any whispers of him wanting to join his brother back in the warm Florida sun? One will have to move over to guard though.

yes, just not for more money.
lets see what comes out of the Hernandez case because that subject involves a lot more than just what happened in new england

not only that but Ritchie incognito has been named as the guy bullying martin so much down in south beach. they could be in a real need for guards next year. we could fix them up for a few draft picks next year. hehehe:eek::cool:
