I am done being mad about this win and now I want to take off my rose colored glasses. First of all I am a Steeler fan to the end period.

I was only able to watch our red zone moments on TV so my full understanding of the game is limited. Our Defense seemed to come out flat, very flat. I have gotten used to this as our Defense seems to start of slow in the first quater. Unfortuantly thats all the raiders needed to defeat us. Once they got going I thought our D played well. My question to here is why do we always start slow?

We finally got some turnovers however our D seems very vanilla. We seem to rely on our front seven to lead the D and unfortuantly they are not. With two rookie linebackers, a nose that is half the man and player that Big Snack was; we just are not able to bring the pressure anymore. I am curious to hear how everyone feels about Heyward but Hood seems to be below average.

All in all our D is playing well enough that we should be at least 5-2 if not more.

Now to the offense. We are so horribly predictable that even I know what stupid play calls Hayley is putting in. I know Ben can audible but I believe there is a limited amount he can do to change the call once Hayley sends it in.

Our offense seems bipolar and I think alot has to do with our oline. Are we evaluating linemen wrong in the draft or are we not bringing them along once they get here? When the game seemed out of reach and Ben was unleashed we got (What I believe) to see Ben being Ben. Yes he threw a pic but he led the team and dominated the raiders in the forth. Was this because the raiders were in prevent and trying to hold on for dear life?

Again I am not a former player or coach like some that post here. This is why I am looking to you guys for your opinions as I think they are very good. That said I do know about being on a team disciplined and undisciplined. That I believe comes down to our leadership. Is this on the Rooney's, the GM or our coaches. I personally like Tomlin very much but I think he is in over his head. He was a D-coordinatior for only a year before we picked him up. Therefore he had no time running a billion dollar team. like he currently is. That can be fixed with good supporting coaches and clear leadership form Tomlin himself (Not to be political but see Ronald Regaan's style).

My question on this is do we need new coordinatiors or a head coach or can we make the right fixes with our current staff.

These questions are based on my belief that we have enough talent ont his team to win it all. Unfortuantly our lack of discipline has taken that chance this year.

I don't remember any personal foul penalties, few if any holding penalties, maybe one or two procedure calls. This is what I think of when I think of discipline. Getting beat along the line is scheme, talents, confidence, ability, etc not discipline.

Well maybe it's fundementals. From what I saw the oline stunk, we seem to be predictibale and flat in every aspect of our offense. We seem not to execute well or even ok. With this talent we should be playing better, alot better. Teams with good talent can put together the right players and coaches and they have magic in how they play together. Some that come to mind are the Angerls in their championship run, Tampa Deveil Rays and the Oakland Athletics. Even the Steelers in 2005 when the bus put the team on his shoulders and carried us to the playoffs.

This year we are not on the same page for most of the game and then suddenly we get desparate and start to gel.

lol, I was going to type the same thing but thought it was too harsh. The game thread yesterday was less about the game and more about people pissing in other's cheerios

I was only able to watch part of the game but from what I saw Glenn these were my thoughts. I posted this because I wasn't able to watch the whole damn thing. I was hoping for some of the guys on here to give me their insight as to what they saw since I wasn't able to watch the whole damn thing.

Usually your uplifting but I take your comment as sarcastic because I didn't get to watch the whole game. This is the first year I haven't watched every damn snap and actually im glad because I get to be a full time dad by sacraficing my weekends. I attended a game every year and when not working I have watched every snap for the past 15 years.

Trust me when I say you didn't miss much. That said: if you read a lot of the messages on the various threads, you'll get a variety of responses about what doomed the Steelers. Actually, you'll find that a lot of things went wrong on Sunday, from Mesko's punts and holds to Ben's picks to more o-line injuries. It's not just one thing.

The thing about it is, Glenn, if you've watched any game in the last two years it's the same old crap. We come out flat, uninspired, seemingly unprepared, get out-coached, out-played, out-hustled and out-manned. How many games can we think of over the last couple of years (and really before) when we've needed to come out and make a statement and we've come out like we've forgotten until 15 minutes before kickoff that we even have a game that week? We've just looked out of sync and very undisciplined. I made the comment today that since we've had trouble with the Raiders the last couple of times we played them, you would have thought that Tomlin would have had this team ultra-prepared for anything the Raiders might throw at us this time. And we come out and give up a stinking 93 yard TD run, the longest in NFL history, to a guy that only has one weapon, his legs. He's not going to beat you with his arm. I guess we didn't prepare for a Pryor run, huh? That one play is just a microcosm of Tomlin's undisciplined approach to coaching a football team. WE simply are not prepared to play when the whistle blows on Sunday and THAT is on Tomlin!

Yeah, I actually left that thread because of that. I think I may skip them all the time now, people are so damn negative in it.

I wasn't trying to be negative about the post only frustrated. So if I was negative I appoligize. I am and will be a Steeler fan for life I just think we are very close if we could correct what I think are discipline or fundamental problems. I believe we have enough talent but they are not playing together until like the radiers game it was too late.

    STEELCOP meet Gestapo Glenn
i'm sure you're an officer of the law by your SN.
Glenn is just one on this board

you missed LITTLE BEN IN BIG GAMES yesterday
    his turnovers
his penalties backing the offense up putting more pressure on the punter
    after under/over throwing receivers
and lacking the ability to read a defense to change or make the hot read.

    BUTTHEY lets blame the oline

Glenn usually cheers me up because he's usually upbeat.

Glad I missed the turnovers. Ben does hold ontot he ball way to long sometimes but given the QB's we had between Ben and Terry I wouldn't trade him. I think Ben is elite in his own ways and I think he makes mistakes but he also does some amazing things. Penalties suck no matter who get them but whens it falls to a QB or WR they irk me even more. I think everyone is playing off from their abilities this year, aside from Troy. He seems to be on it, but again I haven't seen every snap this year.

I have a question and for a lack of a better place would like to ask it here ...
Other than just prior to pregame, how much practice time did our players see on the Raider's field??

That alone maybe could have helped lead to some of our problems with Field Goals?

Ok Jack I get it and I agree with you for the most part, but after you and others have said the same thing over and over in every thread when do you stop saying those same things over and over and just cheer for the team? The constant beat down by the Steelers own fans irks the heck out of me. Again I get it, but dam dude give it a rest already. Real Steel (which I haven't figured out if he's a Troll or just has a few personalities) was saying the game was over after 4 minutes into the first quarter? He ended up being right, but is that really how a person supports their team?

It's all good. I think me and Jack are to the point that we can disagree and still have a civil discussion.

I agree the Steelers played like crap, but it's hard to take a guy's comments who didn't even see the game serious.
At the end of the day we're both Steelers fans and we both want the team to do well.

Oh yeah, we can disagree without being disagreeable.

And for the record, I guarantee I cheer for the team every bit as hard as you or any other fan on this MB. I guess it's somewhat therapeutic to vent after a poor performance. And come on, Glenn, you know all is not well in Steeler land. We've got issues right now, otherwise we wouldn't be 2-5 and turning out sucky performances most every week. What bugs me is constantly being criticized for trying to intelligently and passionately discuss the issues that our team is experiencing right now. I think most of us (trolls excluded) are cheering like crazy for the Steelers to win. Don't be so critical of those being critical, bro. ;)

I read that Tomlin actually took a day this week to tell the young guys why this game is more than just a game because our fans are so passionate in our hatred for the Raiders and how the Raiders made their franchise's legacy at the same time we did and that we are both historically intertwined. I don't think they got it.

He should have forgone the history lesson and spent a little more time on game prep. It was obvious on that 93 yard run by Pryor that the Steelers had actually prepared for Kenny Stabler.
