What's everyone's thoughts on the wildcat. It worked so I have no problem with it. I generally like the way our offense is going. It kinda has a mike mularkey feel to it with all the tricks and stuff. Hopefully every game they have a new wrinkle in it.

I liked it but found it strange that Haley would call the same exact WC play back to back.

    Its purpose was two fold----
    1) to catch the defense off guard
    2) to put on tape a play that future defenses now MUST study and prepare for

It would have been better if he'd actually thrown a pass and/or handed the ball off to felix. Maybe next game.

It wasn't the same play, it was an option read. One was a hand of to Brown, and one was Bell keeping it. I'd imagine there's other variations as well (probably with AB throwing some too).

Not me. Let Landry Jones have that job. Not worth the injury risk.

I thought you were the one that started the thread about Mr. Roethlisberger's drunken running style. No?

I disagree, he ran for 6 yards on at least one of the plays. Cept for 3rd and longer, that's a successful play.

well yea, but with nobody covering him let him drunk run. the drunk part was from TTF's wife. "like a drunken chicken".

why is that confusing to you? I never said I didn't want him running, I said it was funny to watch.

I watched the game at a Steelers bar and a guy sitting next to me asked me what I would do if the opposing QB lined up against me in a WC formation and I said I would play right on the line and knock him into last month. He said he would do the same thing.

Not a fan of the package myself, but do get all warm and fuzzy inside when any package yields results. Good situational play calling to get a D off balance or at least get them to start guessing, I just hope they don't become huge fans of it themselves and fall in love with it as they have the dreaded bubble screen.

We don't have the right actors to perform consistently in a wildcat, and these D's in the pros figure stuff out quick!

Not opposed to mixing in some wing T though, and again... Only to add to the repertoire of keeping em guessing.

When Ben first did it, I thought he was running off the field. I was like . He said in an interview it was the play they used with Hines. And that HE went to coach on Monday and suggested running it. Dont know if that was Tomlin or Haley he went too.

He said the shuffle pass to heath is what they ran with Hines. I remember they used to use the bus with that also.

    Seriously?

A gimmick play pretty much won us a Superbowl when Ben played terrible all game.

Let's hope the Raiders seeing tape on our wildcat package don't give them any ideas of trying Pryor as a reciever in theirs.

There fun to watch, but I always cringe hoping that it don't cause a turnover, a lot of ball handling with personnel that's not used to this type of action.
