I imagine they'll announce a practice squad signing sometime today. It probably will be Baxter, but we'll see. It wouldn't surprise me if were a tight end. :lolol:

Redman's salary was guaranteed as you said, Freak.

Nothing against Redman, he played well at times, but I like the direction our running game is heading in. For years we just made do at running back, now we have Bell who was a second round pick who looks better and better every week, Felix who is a good third down back, and Dwyer who was really good in college and can be a hammer when we need one. Now if they just had decent line to run behind I think we could have a very good running game.

Didn't you call for Woodley to be cut over and over along with some other vets? And you're worried about the effects of 1.3 million?

i'm worried about all the money we could have saved , with only 514 k in cap sapce 1,3 milion for redman 650 k for brown , 650 for cody wallace ... all are moneys that could have used better next year since the amount you save can be prorated in the next one year cap , woodley and the others is another story if we were to rebuild and some of the vets doesn't perform would have been better to cut or trade and move on , glad that woodley is finally doing something while i still think is little overpayd . that's it .

let me explain you , every money you are under the cap at the end of the season you can prorate in the next year , for ex. if you end the season 2milion under the cap you have two milion more in the next year count . that's what i understood last year , is a new rule after the agreement they reached after the strike

This can't possibly be true, is it? It would allow teams to tank one year and then load up the next.

Right, that just began this season. Every team has to spend 89% of the cap. It's how some teams were able to (and why) carry over so much last year.

"Capology" is a hobby of mine, so I can understand appreciating prudent fiscal management. ;-)

I understand fully how it works. Keeping Red or cutting him has no impact at this point of the season. Now if you were saying it was dumb to sign him in the first place then I could have understood you're first comment. But by that logic you could apply that to anyone that ever gets cut. Always easy to be an expert when you're looking back.
Point is no need to call the team dumb every time they make a move or decision that's not to your liking.

when they took velasco (that i was pimping before they did ) i called a great move , when they picked brown i called dumb (sorry maybe the word is too hard ) now the redman move make no sense if they have to pay him ,maybe they need so much kion wilson back ( ??) btw is not very important since they do what they want.

    I have a "hypothetical question" ...
Say either Bell, Jones, or Dwyer becomes injured, and say they want to bring Redman back, how does that work if his money is already guaranteed/paid; do they have to pay him more money, or can they force him to come back for what they have already paid him??

They could not do that. Being a vested vet, his contract was guaranteed. He's got that money and they released him from that contract. To re-sign him, they'd have to sign him to a new contract, with a new offer, which would have to be for at least the pro-rated portion of the vet minimum, or whatever the hypothetical contract might detail.

    Ok thanks !!
So Redman is vested and Dwyer was not vested at the time of his release.
