Alright, so I'm not really a pumpkin carving nerd, but I do a few every year and the kids get into it. This year we did a Mario Bros. theme. Let's see your jack-o-lanterns.

DUDE THAT IS SOOOOO AWESOME!!!!!! Thanks for sending me this! Boo is my boy!!! He also makes for a great pumpkin theme. I'm super ridiculously die hard obsessed with all things Mario and have been since '86 baby! AHHHH YEAH!!! It would be awesome if you could make it turn off when you look at it and light up when you turn away but then I suppose that would defeat the purpose. LOL.

Ha, thanks. I thought you'd appreciate it. My daughter actually had a similar idea. She wanted me to carve the back of the pumpkin so that it looked like he was hiding, but I couldn't figure out a way to make it work. I also did Bowser, but he's not finished yet. The third is tbd. One kid wants Mario, one wants Wario, and one wants Princess Peach. Secretly, I'm hoping we agree on Mario, because the other two are really complicated and time consuming. :p I was going to do a Star Wars theme, but Nintendo won.

You should make Bowser look like he's breathing flames. Can you do all of the Koopalings or are there only certain ones you can do? My wife wanted to do some carving this year but we didn't get to. I have no clue how in the crap to do that. How do you get the pumpkin out of it and still keep it in tact?

I could probably do them. If my kids had their way we'd do every single character from any video game ever. My wife has to seriously rein us in when we get going sometimes. As to getting the pumpkin out, you just cut a hole in the top or bottom and scoop the innards out. After that you just carve your design and throw a candle in when your done.

I caught hell for the last pumpkin I carved. I was working at this bar back in the early 90's and we were closed on Mondays. Well the owners thought it would be fun if they had a pumpkin carving party for all of the employees. Free drinks, pumpkins and have at it. I ended up carving a pumpkin with devil face, went in the office and printed out a picture of Jesus and then pinned it to the inside back wall of the pumpkin. Everything was fine for a few days until one night during the dinner rush when some woman noticed it. She started raising all kinds of fire and brimstone hell. I was behind the bar working while she was screaming at the owners. The madder she got the harder I laughed which just made her even madder. Thirteen years later and it still makes me laugh.

I'll have to take pictures of ours when I get home, but it no longer looks like it did when we first carved it last week. We used the cutout pieces from the eyes to make ears (stuck them on with toothpicks) and had what we thought was a good looking jack-o-lantern. A couple of days later, the kids saw some squirrels waltz up and steal the ears, and since then I've seen the squirrels eating the teeth off of the front of the pumpkin, so it's a little messy looking now. This is the first time I've seen squirrels come up and help themselves to one of our jack-o-lanterns.
