PTI confirms Steelers scouts will be attending Bridgewater's game tonight

I for one do not support this decision. Ben is not the problem, he is the only thing leaving us semi-competitive.
I also do nit believe you draft a QB and pay him to sit behind another.
    Thoughts?

For years Ben was/is a part of the problem with an inconsistent scoring offense. Ben is a big reason why this team is 0-4. He gave the ball away to the other team 9 times. It's difficult to win games giving the ball away 2 times per game. The team loss 3 close games last season because Ben threw 3 game ending INT's in crunch time. Ben appears to be losing some of the magic, it factor, or whatever you want to call it that made him an effective player for this team.

This offense is never going to get much betting producing points with Ben as the QB. Ben has 2 years left on his contract. The real issue is does the organization want to invest a lot of guaranteed money in Ben or do they want to move on? I don't believe Ben will get any better then he's shown up to this point of his career. I wouldn't invest possibly 25 to 30 M in guaranteed money into Ben with the way he plays the game.

The Steelers are doing the right thing by looking for a potential successor to Ben.

You mean like how the packers got Rogers and sat him behind Favre?

The writing is on the wall. Being in position to draft the right QB is another story. They may have the opportunity to draft another QB this year.

Bridgewater is overrated. His team plays nobody and his stats pile up every week. I would rather have battle tested quarterbacks like Johnny Football or Aaron Murray.

Would you pay for a QB of the future to sit 2-3 years and learn? If so, you're an idiot..

This is only newsworthy because the team is 0-4. They visit these games to see the top prospects every year. They could as easily be there to see Smith or Coleman. They're evaluating potential prospects for every position every year.

I was told by a NFL scout the team had reps at the Louisville/Temple game last week for anyone interested in that.

Maybe on the walls in your house it is. Polian just came out and said Bens performance during the Vikes game was one of the best he's ever seen.

Then why ask me, "who says they are?" The potential exists every year that any player on the team can be replaced depending on where the team drafts and how the draft plays out.

It would be a mistake to give Ben a big money contract with the way he plays the game.

You're position is that they are there just to look at Bridgewater, so they can replace the terrible Ben. You have no way of knowing that's why they're there. I didn't say they're hopefully evaluating Ben's replacement every year.

PS- Ben already has a big money contract. They won't be eating that kind of money in the immediate future.

Polian is entitled to his opinion. Ben turned the ball over twice vs the Vikes. Those two turnovers were probably the difference in the game.

Ben couldn't make the key play in the 4th QT when it counted most. Ben hasn't made the key plays in the 4th QT when it counted most for a couple of seasons. He's had 4 or 5 turnovers in crunch time over the past two seasons. Ben used to be able to deliver in crunch time.

I'm not an NFL owner, so it doesn't make a tinkers damn what I would or would not do. Owners have paid to have QB's sit before and some are sitting now; L.Jones right here Pittsburgh and R.Nassib in New York, so apparently the Rooney's and Mara's are idiots in your book.

Talk to the OP about the title of this thread. Bridgewater is a top QB prospect so it only makes sense that they would be there to take a look at him.

Ben has been terrible this season. The Ben lead offense has been mediocre in producing points. The characteristic that made Ben a good player for the team is his ability to win close games in crunch time. Now that the team can no longer be carried by the defense........

Ben has 2 years left on his contract. The Roethelisberger era in Pittsburgh may be coming to an end.

yes but they are 4rth rounders , small $, if you draft bridgewater at 1 you invest a lot of more money to stay on the bench and anyway we don't have the cap to do that

is very simple if we are in position to draft bridgewater (n°1pick overall) means ben totally screwed up the season and ben will be trade, otherwise we will keep going with him drafting a lt i hope

Last turnover didn't mean anything, game ended with a sack, point a finger at the line for not being able to come through when it matter most. And even the great Peyton has thrown game ending interceptions, they all do. If you're looking for perfection, you'll never be satisfied.

Actually, Ben has played great the last 2 games, just needs better ball security. Mostly it was just the Bears game though, he normally doesn't turn it over that much.

Mcarron is my guy. The QB from Alabama. I live down in SEC country and this guy impresses. 2 National titles and has played in a bunch of huge games. He is a winner and a good QB. Mind you, I am NOT an Alabama fan either, but this kid just goes out and gets the job done every week in what is arguably the toughest conference in college football.

Bridgewater has played nobody. I'd take the SEC kid any day of the week over Bridgewater. It's not even close in my book. If he were there, I would pick him and then give him a couple of years. One never knows. He could end up like Ben and get thrown in there if/when Ben got hurt.

Mind you, this is all just conjecture at this point.

How much money will Ben want when it's time to extend his contract? How much is Ben worth to the organization at this point of his career? We'll see.

Teensy bit of difference between a fourth round QB sitting vs a top 5 pick sitting.
