Yes is does ... after 4 preseason games and 4 regular games the Steelers now finally decide they have "no legitimate left tackles on their current roster".

I was just watching NFL Insiders on ESPN, they were talking about what a great trade the ratbirds made for their new tackle and how well he fits their system, then they started talking about Brown to the Steelers and they all pretty much just said that they did not get it all and that he was not much of an upgrade over Adams. Only time will tell but I don't really see that this is going to accomplish anything; I hope I am wrong.

That's my point. If you're rebuilding you don't trade for a short term guy like L. Brown, you go with young talent. Proof that the Steelers are not considering this a rebuilding season.

    It really isn't.
Because the entire division stinks they've still got a chance. As much as Im sure it will cause a fire storm around here, they're not out of it yet. They're 2 1/2 games behind the Bengals. Beating them next time puts them at 1 game back. So they have to make up 1 game over 11 to catch Cincinnati for the division title. Not an impossible feat.

***Im leaving now as this will SURELY incite a riot****

I am fine with this...they did something...which IMO is better than doing nothing.....Which is what they did this offseason.

Now go get Reid Fragel from Cinnci....and drop Whimper.

    HACK

The Steelers announced it on their FB page...so I'm guessing its officially official. They cut CB Green to make sure for him. I guess Green goes back to the PS now.

I don't know, I remember watching Seinfeld where there was that episode where Elaine says: "I'm becoming George! I'm becoming George", meanwhile things were starting to go right George.

I think as Steelers fans - we're starting to feel like "We're becoming the Pirates!" "We're becoming the Pirates!" ... of old that is, meanwhile the Pirates are working to turn themselves into the past Steelers of old with a year of shrewd moves to put together a good team w/savvy vets like Martin, Liriano on the cheap, and Byrd. I view this as possibly the Steelers' "Matt Morris" moment. This guy is a real stretch and he could further complicate a rats trap 2014 cap. I know this is proof that we are not re-building, but maybe they need to recognize that we DO need to rebuild. I'm not saying a complete overhaul, but recognize that young guys have to play and hopefully get better.

How many weeks it will take them to get Brown above the line from a preparation standpoint? :hmmm:

drafting adams and gilbert , adding whimper and now brown ,i question do they know what is a left tackle ?

Adams was ranked 69th out of 72 tackles in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus. He allowed four sacks, six hits on Roethlisberger and 13 quarterback hurries.
Brown also allowed four sacks in the first four games, six hits on the quarterback and eight hurries. Pro Football Focus rates Brown as the 60th tackle in their rankings.

4 sacks in 4 games is terrible for a guy who was drafted #7 overall in 2007.

i found something good on him :
levi brown was the guy that allowed a sack by woodley on the last play that sealed the game in the superbowl we won in tampa.

All the talk has been about how the Steelers need to make a move to shore up the O-Line, anyone has to be better than Whimper. So they make a move and people complain.
    Awesome.

Wait, so there's guys out there that were cut for cap space and the hope you'd be able to slip them through and resign them to a lower base while not guaranteeing thier salary? Also, that have started 16 games in a season before and been at least ranked positively at thier position?

    The Hell you say!!

3 were in the first game. You'd have to go back and look at tape. He did sit out last year with an arm injury, so it makes sense that he's readjusting.

Well, I guess we can say that unlike Whimper and Wallace who were later round draft picks or UDFAs that suck, at least Brown is a TOP 5 PICK that sucks.
