    That seems like an upgrade.
Don't get me wrong, like I said, this isn't a "great" signing. However, if we can re-structure and get his salary down, I do think it is an improvement. Our whole O-line is starving for experience.

A 7th rounder for a former top 5 pick seems like a solid deal. He should have the talent at least.

Nobody should be upset about this move, as it gives the team a chance to get better at a cost of next to nothing. Cap you say? We are going to be cap-strapped next season regardless....if Brown by chance turns out to be good, he could potentially hold that position and let us address other positions in the draft. Lot's of ifs, but that's what you get with an 0-4 team.

Also everyone laughed at the Ravens picking up that fatty LT a few years ago from the Vikings (I know his name, but I just wanted to say fatty), and he turned out pretty good for a few seasons. He may suck now, but oh well, they got production out of him when everyone said he was to fat.

    Fair point, well made.

Though I suppose I would argue that in many cases the acquisition of o-line personnel has not been the problem... just witness the amazing optimism on this board after the Decastro draft. Or the joy on the old board when we drafted A.Q. Shipley. A long history of letting some go too quickly (e.g. Urbik) and not letting others go (e.g. Kemoeatu), and the strange lack of development (e.g Gilbert) has been more of a contributor.

Aye, well, we can all agree on that I think.

But if we're desperate to make some changes, then perhaps you go for the former first round pick, rather than the waterboy?

Looks like a conditional pick... Not that that clears anything up. :hmmm:

My sentiments exactly. At least they didn't SOMETHING. I was thinking we would see MIKE ADAMS back out there against the Jets.
They also moved Beachum to take the left tackle spot and benched Adams.

Tomlin is back in my good graces for now.

A lot of Teams have had RB'S go down maybe they can trade Redman for a 7th . round pick and recoup the pick and part of the money..

Just when you think things could not get worse

The freaking trade for a God awful Levi Brown. I live in AZ, and trust me when I say he is WORSE than Adams. Ben on IR by week 8. Colbert has put the nail in his own coffin for me. The cap hit for this bum is going to be huge for the next 2-3 yrs and he is just terrible. Cards fans rejoicing right now.:facepalm:

Interesting move. Levi has had his ups and downs...so we'll see what be brings to the table. I'm hearing its a CONDITIONAL pick only. And also remember while yes they will have a prorated salary for him this year/etc...they can cut him without any loss. As they will not owe him any guaranteed money (unless they by chance decide to re-do his contract).

Seeing how they are taking a minimal risk here (yes they will have to shift some money around, cut someone, etc...its not like they need to make room for 10 mil or something just a few) I do not hate the move and we'll see how it works out (and I personally haven't given up on Adams either...in a way I was hoping they'd swap the OT's and see how that works before anything else but that was just me).

Probably not the best player but at least they did something about our left tackle position. Usually they just stand pat and see if the problem goes away on it's own.

While not a flashy trade, it does show they are looking. I'll give the guy a chance at least to prove himself before I start jumping all over the front office.
However if it's true he is just a slow plodder and not the athletic type of lineman that was preached during camp I have to wonder if they are abandoning that philosophy?

Ditto, I live here too and Brown has been a bust ever since he was drafted by the cards, he is a worse blocker than Adams and a change of scenery isn't going to re invent this bust, Arians has to be happy over dumping this lump on the steelers....Levi gives up more sacks than a grocery boy, but I guess when your as desperate as tomlin is, you'll take anything you can find...

And it's bad, bad Levi Brown
The baddest man in the whole damned town
    Badder than Mike Adams
    And meaner than Marcus Gilbert

maybe he's not here to take adams spot. maybe he's going to the right side for gilbert and beachum stays on the left. I think that would be far better.

I'm a Steeler fan living in Arizona. Just throwing it out there that Levis full name he is called out here is Godamnit Levi "Holding Number 75" Brown. So there's that

Switching lineman around out of their natural positions has caused enough problems already, put him in at his LT spot and leave him there, he will either swim or sink on his own, but don't start this bait and switch, it rarely works out........

Probably not the right use of the phrase "Bait and Switch" but I see your point. Mike Adams did alright on the right side last year, perhaps let him and beechum fight over that spot.
