It's kool ,I just had high hopes for the kid and I still believe he could do well in the right system, but we have a lot bigger problems than that...

Just because 1 guy you pimp doesn't work out doesn't mean I am Football stupid ..I know that much...

I been around Football a long time and hard to pimp a guy off a you tube video ,yet he still made the Team...Who knows how he would have done had we been able to block anyone..

Not sure they would be Golden, but they would have top tier potential....As we usually draft a guy that is ranked 3rd. or 4th. at his position..Stands to reason being able to draft guys on a higher tier could result in better caliber players...

I've stayed out of this thread so far, but instead of going after a qb this year in the first, i'd stick to my gameplan and draft a starting LT. we will need one whether we draft a qb or not.

I would also draft a center/guard combo guy like swanson from Arkansas.

dump foster and one of adams or gilbert. we should also get embernate back next year. keep velasco and move either he or pouncey to guard, because I don't think we keep pouncey past next year.

we fix what's broken and see if our franchise qb still has it. a good line will tell a lot. by then landry jones will have some more nfl time under his belt. that should at least let us figure out which way we want to go, whether it's ben, jones or a draft pick at that time.

Johnny Football reminds me of, and is about the same stature as Colt McCoy, and both have the similar styles of play in college ball, like Colt found out, running in the NFL isn't as easy as it is in college, just ask RG 3 about that....

To all those who want to trade our QB, I really need to ask if how old you are? I ask that as being an older fan who remembers the team from the time the Steelers acquired Bradshaw to now, if any of you watched the Steelers in the 80's then you would understand why this is nonsense. If you had Bubby Brister right now as QB what you would have is 0-4 but it would be scores of 35-0 every game, there would be zero chance of comeback. Did any of you get the pleasure of watching Kent Graham behind center? We had the number 1 defense, the number 1 offensive line, and the number 1 rushing attack in the league and still couldn't get deep into the playoffs or even make the playoff sometimes until we got Kordell Stewart. We won with Ben and a few reciters and a competent defense, that's all we needed to win with him but the play has gotten so bad along the oline that there really isn't anyone who is going to come here and perform, Michael Vick couldn't survive his terrible oline, so what makes you think a running QB can survive the one we field? I would love to see Manning or Brady, or RGlll try to play behind what we have this season. Truth of the matter is we have a good QB that can make plays but he has been pummeled without end, no player in the league can stand up to that abuse and yes, the turnovers occurred at a high rate when nobody on the team seemed to play well. The turnover on the 6 yard line that sealed our fate last game, does that have you angry? Why isn't anyone talking about trading Woodley, Timmons, and 3/4 of the defense? If we tied that game and lost the coin toss in OT it would have been over anyway, our number 1 rated defense made a back up QB look like a pro bowler again as we would have had a tough time slowing down a pop warner team. Stop talking nonsence, fix the oline and the team will improve by leaps an bounds and turnovers will not be an issue but with no threat of running the ball and only having to rush 4 guys to get to the QB well, how can guys get open when teams no longer have to blitz to get to pressure, fix that and it will get better.

No doubt it is much harder to run ,yet it is giving defenses fits with the threat of the run...

And what has impressed me about Johnny is his passes, he has put balls in nice windows this year and he seems to throw WR'S open and give them the ability to make YAC....

Ben does not seem to be good at that IMO ,but all of our WR'S are built for that type of play...

not that I want him or don't want him, but his physical attributes will allow him to succeed to an extent, his leadership and teammate attributes will cause him to fail. he's a cocky me guy. that won't go far in the pro's. just my thoughts on him.

I have heard this for years, and actually, I really would like to see those guys behind the line. I suspect they would make the line look much better than you think. Those guys see what is going to happen with defenses and plan their throws accordingly. They already have 3 options planned for quick execution at the snap. Ben is typically purely reactive. I don't mean to bash Ben, but I am not even going to consider him on a cerebral level as Brady or Manning. It seems the only time Ben tries a quick hitter pass is when it was called as such - hence our bubble screens when the D is in perfect position for it. I have seen our RB wide open numerous times without a look. As a matter of fact, I would bet our entire line would see a major turn-around in NE, both with the coaching and the QB - they would pull it together quickly.

I don't know how you say this when it's well known that the teams most successful against Brady and Peyton are the ones that get pressure on them. I don't care who you are or how many options you have selected to throw too before snapping the ball, when it collapses as fast as it does on Ben, your options wont have a chance to run their routes.

Ben showed in the Bears game that he was getting rid of the ball in 2.5 seconds and had very good results, when you need to get rid of the ball under 2 seconds, no one will be successful, don't care who you are.

Exactly what I was going to say. Remember when the Steelers tee'd off on Manning in the 05 playoffs? Remember SB42 when the Giants overwhelming pass rush made Tom Brady look human? Or when the Ravens did it again in the playoffs a few years later? Ben is facing that kind of pressure every. single. week.

Would Brady and Manning be more successful than Ben behind that line? Probably. They're better QBs. Period. But they wouldn't be having the success they are currently enjoying. No way.

    Winning statement right here.
The Steelers don't make drastic, blow it up and start over moves. And its hard to argue against their approach. The Browns do things like that and thats why they are, well...the Browns. Be patient. There are a lot of positives on this roster to build around INCLUDING Ben Roethlisberger. It would be asinine to trade your best player on the roster because he's had 8 bad games.

Ben will play for the Steelers 7-8 more years. We're just getting started!!!!!!!

I truly believe we might have a few down years in order to have one big push for Championships the last 3 years of Ben's career.

IF we do better than that, that is more than I expected.

Bens average time is 4.6 secs holding on to the ball. Thats very high compared to Brady at 2.3 and Cutler at 2.6

26 of Bens drop backs in the Bears game he got rid of the ball in 2.5 seconds. The other 15 or so drop backs, he had less then 2 seconds.

Fans are always calling for the back up player. I hope they do switch for a game so people can see how bad it can really be. Then that would get rid of about 25% of the threads here.

The 4.6 refers to the combined 4 games this year not just the Bears game

Where did you get this 4.6? Show me.

I find it hard to believe since his average for 25% of those games is 2.3. That would mean and average of 5 seconds (in the other games), nearly double his Chicago average in order to get to 4.6 for the whole season.
