Goodell saying: "With the first pick in the 2014 draft, the Steelers select"......
We're not there yet, Jacksonville will have something to say about that, but we're getting close. Wake this team up Tomlin.

The team is awake it's a lack of talent that is killing us. They're playing hard and haven't given up which is a testament to the coaches.

I kind of excited... The year we drafted Ben is the highest we've drafted since I've been old enough to know what was going on... I'm a big draft nut too, so... I'm on team "start gradkowski"

Honestly, we need a year or two or reloading in the draft. Might actually be a good thing.

Steelers have been scraping by the last few years with a few guys who were UDFA or journeyman backups, its time to up the talent level a little.

    This.

I think Jake Matthews could be our Joe Thomas, meaning plug him right in and leave him at LT for 10 years. That would really be nice to have...

Gradkowski is pretty good. He could help win a few games.

I think Steelers really need a better O-line coach. They might not be able to get Scarnecchia but there has to be someone else out there like him who can mold everyone from first round picks to street free agents into a functional O-line.

Is Redman the starting RB in that game?

You must be very young, we drafted Plaxico Burress in the 8 spot in 2000......

No doubt in my mind, that Alan Faneca could coach this Oline and turn it around in short order, not many 9 time pro bowler coaching candidates more qualified than Alan....

Isn't Tomlin on his 3rd offensive line coach or something?

Gosh let's get a little consistency there.... don't panic and fire everyone.

I just look at things from the draft perspective and realize we have been picking in the high 20 and low 30s lately. Now we finally will get a top 5 and then another pick in the low 30s. This is a good way to increase the overall talent level.

On another note, I am all over the Matthews pick. He would totally help our line, but if we are going that way, Adams and Gilbert need to figure out who is going to be the RT the rest of the year.

there is nothing wrong with having two o-line coaches. most teams do in some capacity. some are o-line coaches and run game coordinators, or the OC sometimes. heck belicheck is also the co-o-line coach of his team. so I don't think we get rid of Bicknell just yet.

however, i'd be for adding some offensive smarts and draft ability to this unit and the offense in general. someone that can match our players,qb,OC and scheme to allow drafts to be succeesful on that side of the ball.

that allows our better defensive minds to worry about that side of the ball. MT,butler,DL,lake, mitchell are good solid defensive minds. Colbert is pretty good on that side too. we are defensive knowledge heavy, but not so offensively. nothing matches.

They've had at a minimum Zerlien(sp?),Kugler, and Bicknell during his tenure.

I couldn't disagree more. We have plenty of talent, it's the coaching were missing. Even though I'm highly critical of Ben, he's a good QB capable of making plays. Brown, Sanders, bell, Wheaton, miller are all more than capable. Troy, Clark, hood, Heyward, Jones, Woodley, ike. Those guys have talent there just not being used correctly or not being coached properly.

We have 4 high draft picks on the Oline, all of which have struggled badly at times. I don't believe for a second that they are busts, I think they're not being coached correctly.

Put any of those guys on another team and I bet they succeed. Colbert has typically drafted well, so I don't believe for a second that suddenly everyone he drafts is a bust. Were doing something wrong on the field. Replace Tomlin with Belichek and we'd be a playoff team, probably 4-0 right now.

As terrible as it sounds I am with you. I feel we could use some high draft picks eventhough I think we don't have our third or something this year? And its not like we gonna make the playoffs anyways so whatever just lose em all at this point.

maybe the age is catching up. we don't notice because we saw the same play from guys like foote, troy, ike, clark, keisel, ben and heath. as they all slow down together, we don't notice, but the rest of the league has gotten faster and younger. these guys are doing the same things , just getting there a lot slower and it's magnified. father time is a nasty man.
