It seems we are doomed for a bad season, should we be trying to trade away guys for picks ??

Who would you trade ?Who has any value? What could we get for Ben ?

The reason I mention Ben is because of the points that Mac pointed out,we have a whole OL full of Pistol,Zone Read ,QB waggle type of OL...Maybe the rebuild goes quicker if we trade Ben for a 1st. and a 2nd.. round pick ?

Draft a Mobile QB a shut down CB and a pure rushing DE and a LT...With a trade we could get 2 or 3 of those next year and the rest the next ,I am ready for drastic changes....

I don't think we go wholesale here. I would keep Ben. But Sanders could be packaged for a pick or player.

Being that Sanders is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season we would get very little for him in trade. I would have no problem with trading Ben if the value was there.

    LOL at this thread.
Im glad none of you are running the Steelers and think that you should go apply for a position with the Patriots and Ravens. I'd say the Browns too, but it appears someone from here has been running them since version 2.0 in 1999.

I think the problem here would be that anyone that we would want to trade has a monster contract that no team in their right mind would want to take on.

Ben hasn't been good since he got hurt last year, you gotta see that. How many turn overs does he have this year? 5 last game, 2 this game?

Why is it so hard for you to understand if we don't fix the glaring holes on this team then it doesn't matter if Ben is here or not?

And we have so many holes how can we fill them all without some drastic measures ?Ben has lost that come back magic and it might be a great time to move on..

Show me a GM that is agreeable to that I will show you a GM without a job 10 minutes later. A 1 & 2 for a 31-32 year old QB who is only at best a middle of the pack QB in the NFL at this time.

I myself would LOVE to get a 1-2 from any team for #7 .Sign me up!!!!

Between the guys that you could trade but wouldn't want to, the guys you want to trade but have no takers, and the guys you can't trade due to age and contract $, I'm not sure a lot of guys are left.

Ben, Brown, Pouncey and Timmons could bring could return, but there'd a lot of unhappy fans if they traded them. It would raise the white flag of 'We're in a very long rebuilding period'

Woodley won't bring much with his salary.

Ike, Pola, Keisel Cotchery, Miller won't bring much as they're older

Sanders is an FA next yr, so you won't get much in return for him.

I don't think anyone wants to trade Bell,J Jones

Hayword, Hood, Gilbert, Adams would get you very little.

Unless you want to load up on 5th and 6th round picks, trading bodies doesn't look like a good option.

In Madden or FF- sure. In real life- no. From a financial standpoint, this trade will never happen any time soon. You may be comforted to learn it's not as unpopular as you may think, though. It's been discussed on here in a couple long threads recently.

To me. Ben is the last person I would want traded on the team.

If it were to happen (which it won't) then I would say Fitzgerald from Arizona and a Number 1 pick.

The problem remains that it makes our situation much worse. What other QB would survive behind arguably the worst O-Line in the last 5 seasons? Fitz didn't catch nothing last season cause his QB was terrible. He would be completely ineffective on this offense with the time the QB has to throw.

First of all, I'm not advocating trading away Ben. However, just to respond to the thread - to get multiple high picks for Ben, he would need to be traded to a team that believes it can contend this season if it had a QB. The only 2 teams that come to mind are the Cards and the Texans, both sitting at 2-2 and very much alive. I don't see Houston making any move at QB, even though I'm convinced that Schaub doesn't have what it takes to lead them to the next level. The Cards may be willing to make a move like that if they see blood in the water around other NFC wild card hopefuls like San Fran, Atlanta and Green Bay, especially when you factor in the Ben & Bruce connection.

Again, I'm not saying that I would trade Ben, but if we can get a 1st and a 2nd... I may be swayed. Why would I be swayed? Because I'm not sure how fixable our situation is in the next 2 years, and I think that there's a fair probability of one of two things happening between now and 2015: 1) Ben continues to decline and is no longer a franchise QB in a couple of years, or 2) we can't agree to an extension with him and can't afford to franchise him. Two weeks ago I thought our situation was fixable in one year or less through a combination of O-line additions and maturation of some of our young O-linemen. I felt that the only positional group on the team that wasn't adequate when healthy was the O-line. However, over the past two weeks I've seen our defense look worse than I've ever seen a healthy Steeler defense look in the LeBeau era. We have a bad defensive front, and it's going to take a pretty significant personnel shift to become a contending defense again. Maybe Heyward is salvageable, but I'm not sold on anyone else.

I would trade Sanders in a heartbeat if that were possible. But since he's done after this year then we're pretty much stuck with him. I basically think we're just in for a horrible year and we're not gonna win many games because we have no one that we can get rid of. We're just gonna have to dance with the ones that brought us.

LOL. You've got a FRANCHISE quarterback and you're ready to ship him out because he's had a bad 1/2 a season?

So your solution to fixing a glaring hole is to create another one? Brilliant.

Why do people think that franchise QBs are a dime a dozen? That they are just hanging around at the local Greyhound Station waiting for a chance. You people think that Ben Roethlisberger stinks and is expendable when in fact he is one of the bright spots on the team. Even if he hasn't played great over the last 8 games (and I don't 100% agree with that statement), he's still a franchise guy and not someone you discard on a whim.

Yeah, I don't see how fixing several holes while opening up one glaring hole helps us. No one wins without a QB.

*edit* lol, beat me to it Bobby!
