I can't remember the actual but it was either get on board or your off. I wonder who is going to sit if they don't perform because why in the hell is adams in there. He's not going to bench anybody he is jot going to fire any coaches he is going to sit there and talk out of his ass and change nothing.

I already posted that is Adams is back in the starting lineup next game, Tomlin has lost my support. I'll always cheer for the Steelers as I have for the last 34 years but something needs to be done with Adams.

Not to make excuses but adams failure is directly linked to poor preparation. Jared Allen is a heck of a pass rusher but he is over aggressive and average in other areas of the game. Joe Thomas shut him down last week and that was his sole responsibility. That should have been Adams assignment as well. Not to shut him down per say but his job should have been Jared Allen and nothing else. Use his over aggressive play to let him drive wide and then attack the gap he leaves. Dictate to them by forcing the LB''s to shift to account an over load to the opposite side and attack them. Once again they all looked confused about who their man was, Adams see's Allen hanging back and then tries to step in front of a blitzing LB while Allen then jumps into the blitz. Adams has no idea who his man is. I don't often agree with Sims but his assignment should be to take the biggest threat everytime and that should be Allen.

He talked his way into this job. Now he can talk his way out if it.

I can agree with your asssesment and I will add why didn't they give him any help? Obvious they should know Adams is not very good and knowing he's going up against one of the premier pass rushers, why not a chip? or a running back or TE on that side? Unbelieveable. I know they didn't think Adams could handle him alone?

In Adam's defense... He's gone through the gauntlet of Michael Johnson, Julius Peppers, and Jared Allen in 3 weeks... However some of the mistakes he's making are inexcusable (like the Allen sack where Adams didn't even put a hand on him).

I think Adams should go back to the right side, and put Gilbert or Beachum on the left. Not necessarily because I think either of those guys is better on the left side... but because I think Adams ultimately ends up being our future RT and might as well settle in there now.

Well one thing is clear...our Oline is far from settled. IF we end up with a top 5 pick, I don't see how you DON'T take Matthews unless you decide Clowney is just too good to pass on.

we drafted guys that came from programs that featured a mainly running qb. alot of the same with matthews.

florida from which we got pouncey and gilbert, they blocked for tebow. gilbert was a 2nd round stretch to start with.

ohio st. from which we got adams, he blocked for pryor and the current qb in columbus miller. both run first qb's like tebow was at florida.

these guys didn't get reps as a pro set, make a pocket, pass set types of offenses. yet we expected them to do it here. he was a first rounder by most draft nik sites but was a bottom tier 1st rounder that fadded to the 2nd, which was actually high for his skills. it wasn't all the smokin dope thing, it was skill level and work habit mostly.

    let's continue.

foster, out of the SEC as were two other high picks, gilbert and pouncey. foster was a RT at tennesee. he was at RT, because he was too slow footed to handle the left side. eventually someone better stepped up at UT and they moved foster to guard, to cover up some of his footwork on the edge.

he filled in at RG mostly here when our former inadiquit guards got hurt. he played OK compared to what we already had that was pretty bad by league standards.
if anyone remembers we tried other guys there until he was the only guy left so he started. still was just OK. we couldn't afford anyone this year so we re-signed him after waiting so long.
trying to make him a leader when he , himself didn't have alot of skills, and then moved him to a more critical spot of LG. he doesn't have the skills to be starting either side though. he's too fat and lacks footwork and doesn't recognize late blitzers and can't adjust to them coming, let alone being passed off to him. now we add a scheme that requires even more movement from him. again, a bad fit all around, but he's fairly cheap. that's pretty telling right there.

DD, i think is intelligent and driven enough to become pretty good. he works hard and has gotten stronger after his setback last year. he seems to play better every week. i'll take a young guy thats improving. he will earn his first round grade eventually. still a work in progress though.

beachum, intelligent plus, long arms, big mobile base, great work ethic, getting stronger. so he's 6-3, so what? just not up to league specs or something? his arms are 3/4 of an inch shorter than mike adams. not a big difference. he's played well at every spot he's played. he helped the pocket when foster went out. he hasn't given up a sack in the preseason or regular season this year.
he started 3 years at SMU at LT. he has the feet, head and arm legnth for it. they just won't put him in as a starter anywhere. does it make colbert/MT look bad that he could outplay either 2nd round picks? sure he's valuable as a backup, but at what cost? you franchise qb? your run game? (which hasn't been much and actually looked better when he was at LG.)

fernando velasco, nice pickup. has more azz to hold up under the NT's, yet still can move and understands the new scheme. he's pretty smart also. that's getting to be a theme here. they need to sign this man before they lose him. he can play guard but his money spot is center. georgia had a pro style offense when he played there so he's familiar with pass blocking as well.

pouncey, played in a running qb offense. is mobile. has knee and ankle trouble now and has 1 year left on his rookie contract. his brother also plays for miami in there backyard. i like pouncey, but i wouldn't want us to sink tons of money in him to stay. i do think he may fair better for this team as a guard. he could go back to center if the need arose with an injury. his mobility is great in the run game. he can makeup ground and guard against blitzers and can pass off rushers with other linemen. all plusses. since velasco's here it would make sense. depends on where he want's to play and how much he want's. he is a keeper though at a fair price.

embernate. this guy was supposed to be involved i believe this year. again another lineman down with a knee injury. this is going to retard some of his teething this year, but mot a bad guy in the wings for next year. could play either guard or RT as a backup. could help down the line with the pouncey saga. he looks mobile and nasty. he's a keeper i believe.

wallace? what do we know about him? is he worse then whimper or foster at guard? could he play center and move velasco to guard this year? have they tried? if not, why is he here?

    whimper? really? slow and inconsistant.

long. PS keeper that didn't look lost in preseason on either side. was mobile and had decent footwork. i think he's as good as adams personally. at least from what i've seen so far. he didn't go against top players, but the mobility and technique was there.

hubbard. UAB 4 year starter at LT. PS keeper. he's light in the pants at about 290, but is mobile with good footwork. they have not tried him at tackle and put him inside at guard. it started rough for him, but he did improve every game in preseason. if they can put some weight on him in the form of muscle, he could turn into a decent player as a backup and maybe more. he's got the build.

maybe some trade talks for adams or gilbert would be in order. are colbert and MT just going to let this go on? we hear the talk. is it just to save face? we have other players that could be shuffled around to help fix this mess they have created. they just won't do it for some reason. this hasn't been just these 4 games either. where do we go from here? . find a LT next year. use the resources they have this year even if it means getting rid of someone.

that's my take of this mess and where we stand whether, you agree or disagree the bleeding needs to stop. FKCI:cool:

Even if you put Adams on the right side, all the defense will do is move there best pass rusher over to that side.

What baffle me is why didn't we give him some help? He didn't fair well against the last two DEs so why do we think he can handle Allen by himself?

Very good assessment. I would package Sanders to someone for a left tackle.

I have no idea. And who makes that call? Tomlin? The OL coach? Both of them?

    All the above.

And not to go back to far in the past, but this reminds me of the Tebow debacle. We knew Ike Taylor was having a tough time covering Thomas. By half time he was getting torch. Why didn't we give him help? It's like we can't make adjustments to the game plan.

I watched NE last night and their O linemen when they are blocking if they get beat they run and get in front of the D lineman who beat them. I noticed Adams when they get by him, he relaxes. I was one who was glad we drafted him but, not anymore.

How do we know Adams is the one Tomlin was talking too? Beachum subbed in for Gilbert too. Maybe Beachum goes to LT because they want to put Adams at RT and bench Gilbert because he is the culprit?????

I got to say this offense is not helping Adams much though. Lots of deep passes and no assistance from RB's and TE's to block.

I agree though Adams is probably the best we got at this point at LT. We could do much better than all the tackles on our roster though.

One of the announcers said it looked like Adams was tying his shoes on one of those sacks.
