Would you be in favor of this hypothetical coaching move?

Desperate times call for desperate measures! Let's say the Rooneys are in discussions with Bill Cowher about coming back to coach the Steelers, and Cowher agrees to come back. How many on this board would be in favor of firing Tomlin and bringing Cowher back as the Steelers head coach during the bye week? WE NEED A DRASTIC MOVE IN ORDER TO PUMP LIFE INTO THIS TEAM AND THAT WOULD DO IT MORE THAN ANY PLAYER MOVE IMHO. I really believe the talent on this team is sufficient to win football games, but for whatever reason Tomlin is not getting the most out of it and the team is not responding to him.

I know it's a long shot and would probably never happen, but we need a BOLD move and this would be as bold as it gets.

I'd love to see a big shake up and given the limited played talent available, it's got to be the coaching.

Um no its clearly players. Tell me, did any of our high priced defensive players play like their salary would indicate today?

Since we're just talking hypothetical here, would I want Cowher or Tomlin coaching this team right now? My gut would say Cowher but given his gaffs in the post season for so many years, do you take the great regular season teams in favor of blowing up in the playoffs again? Ok well Tomlin's done that too so that makes them somewhat even. Tomlin has built a totally different team that Cowher would have to work with and it would take years to get in the players he would want and instill the style of play he would want IMO.

Realistically, how about Cowher as the new DC to replace Lebeau? Even though Keith Butler already has that job sewn up when DL retires.

You don't put any of the blame on the coaching staff for the performance in the last 12 regular season games???

i want tomlin gone and don't want cowher back , if we keep this dumb we will end up like a clowns for years

this what i found and agree on
Think of that for a second. The Steelers have lost 9 of their last 11 games. For this franchise, that's unacceptable. If you're the Browns or Lions it is... The have seasons like this all the time. Not the Steelers. Get the **** rid of this bum before he ruins this franchise and we have a team that gets used to losing. Once that culture takes hold, it's hard to shake. Don't think it can't happen? Ask Raider fans if they ever thought they could be this bad for this long? What Cowboy fan back in 1996 would have believed that their team would win one playoff game in the next 17 seasons? Come on Rooneys!! Fire this cracker-jack before he destroys what you have built.

No. Now you tell me, at what point do we need to start pointing the finger at Mike Tomlin as the HC? This team is obviously not responding to his cliches anymore.

Unless they are the ones who are evaluating the talent in drafts and free agents (not that they do free agency), and signing guys like Woodley and Timmons and Ike to mammoth contracts, no. This coaching staff has a lot of playoff and Super Bowl experience. What HAS been deteriorating is the player talent.

Put Landry in and see him throw 5 picks a game playing behind that offensive line and not being able at all to escape pressure and make plays and tell me at what point do we need to recognize the truth that our player talent is not good, especially on both offensive and defensive lines.

Coaches can't get the credit for success but none of the blame for failure. It the coaches can't make the players better, who is to blame? Both sides.

Why is it that Belicheck can get the most out of high school water boys and Tomlin can't win with, what is supposed to be, NFL talent? I know the talent may not be what we thought it was, but Tomlin seems incapable of getting the team out of this conundrum.

Uh, I think that was Ben fumbling and throwing INTs today. He's supposed to be pretty good.

I would be ok with this move, you can tell its killing him that the Steelers are playing this bad, if you listen to him on the CBS post game show.......

It would be nice if they just cut ties with Tomlin while he is in London and let find his own way back home. Everyone wants to point fingers but the biggest problem on this team is the Head Coach.

I would not take Cowher back. If we did change coaches, even though the Rooney's won't do it, it would be an offensive minded coach.

Yep. Grad would be better behind that line than Jones would.

If you look at the Patriots defensive, any of their starters outside of SS would start on our team over our respective current starter, in my opinion. To me its more talent evaluation, but coaching players to be better players is always a part of it, but its the same defensive coaches from the Joey Porter era. So...

I put the blame on all of them. The sky is officially falling! None of us here are fair weather fans so we will watch and take our lumps, I guess we were due given the three decades of great years.

I would love to see th chin return but it won't happen. Tomlin is not a great leader he is great at public speaking after we get out a$$ beat though.

I hope DL retires this year he has given us alot to be thankful for but we need a spark. Our defense sucks Our offesive line really sucks and Ben can't seem to hold onto the ball. I still believe in Ben, Heath AB and Saunders Troy and a few more. I don't understand why Timmons hasn't forced anything this year but given the lack of enthusiam from all of our defense I guess mediocarity is a given. Even though I didn't get to see the game today aside from NFL red zone I and inspired but our rookie RB.

Enough of my rant for now but I will no longer make excuses for Tomlin. Yes we could get on a streak with our talent and yes we could gel and finish storng (And I hope we do) but this SUCKS.

You guys talk like this is cyber security. It's football plays. Cover 2 or blitzing 4 guys is the same idea, just depends on the personnel executing it.
