Wasn't me, but I agree with the intent of the message. Ben needs to get his act together. He runs this offence, he's the offensive leader, he needs to act like it. Constant turnovers are unacceptable. He isn't playing good enough, period.

Constant turnovers are what happens when you are the ONLY offensive threat and you are constantly under siege and as a result you are pressing to make plays. Fix the other problems (or make them moderately better) and watch the turnovers improve.

It's not like Peyton Manning has never had a 6 INT game before. Oh wait...

Some of the stuff I've seen here lately I wouldn't be surprised.

"You got to wear that for life. Who you callin a *****?"...Figure that one out Jen :hmmm:

And if Ben would take sacks instead of pressing and turning the ball over it would be a lot closer. But the team would still be 0-3 and probably have scored 0 points.

c'mon bobby, he's missed a lot of open receivers too. when he's had time, I will add. there have been some ugly interceptions as well this year and last. ben is not above some of the criticism.

if there was a perfect pocket every play, we wouldn't need his big salary or ben, heck anyone could play behind that.

it goes team wide. they all need to start playing a better brand of football.

Okay, the letter may be a little over the top, but the dude makes some valid points. Ben was a turnover machine against the Bears, we can't have that. Ben's play has been below the line so far this year resulting in an 0-3 record. If Ben wants to be a truly elite quarterback instead of almost elite, he needs to show that he's willing to properly prepare for games. He needs to watch more film, understand the nuances of the defenses he'll be going against and what their vulnerabilities are. Ben has been good enough up to this point in his career to just show up and play a sandlot style that has worked because of his physicality. He is no longer the 27 year old Ben. He is an old 31 because of the hits he's taken. Ben has never been viewed as a leader on this team but if the Steelers are going to turn this thing around, he needs to lead. I disagree with the letter in one respect, I do think Ben cares, but he needs to evaluate where he is at this point in his career and what he needs to do to be as successful in the second half of his career as he was in the first half.

Jeez I get so tired of reading this same stuff about watching film, etc etc. Why do you think he doesn't? How would any of us know what goes on between Sundays?

From what I've seen he's getting clobbered and missing throws because he's inaccurate. What's that have to do with film study?
    ?

I personally think that film time is NAP TIME for Ben. Of course I don't know what Ben does in the film room but the OPINION I've developed over the years is that he does something besides WATCH FILM! I know this may be comparing apples and oranges, but watch Peyton Manning the way he is in complete and total command of every snap of every game. He knows what the defense is going to be doing, what their call is. He knows how to beat the blitz. Brady and Brees are the same way. They seem to have a good idea about how to attack the defense. Ben on the other hand is almost always in a situation where he is missing his primary and having to scramble and look for a secondary or tertiary receiver. He very rarely connects on the hot read, very rarely hits the outlet because he's looking 40 yards downfield to a receiver that's double covered. Hey, it's worked well because Ben has been a physical specimen and he can scramble around until a receiver breaks open. But the play hardly ever seems to work the way it's designed to work. Oh I know, let's blame Haley for that.

That's just my opinion after watching Ben play for a decade now. Now you may have him pegged as a very studious, conscientious, attention to detail and film study kind of QB. I DEFINITELY DO NOT!

I think I heard that the entire letter was originally penned on a napkin at a hotel bar.

And just look at what Mark Tresman has done for Cutler this year. He was getting rid of his passes in 2 to 2.5 seconds the other night. He didn't look great but made plays when he had to, especially in the first half and he didn't turn the ball over or take unnecessary sacks. Maybe our plays are designed to be quick hitting, but by the time Ben pump fakes 3 times he's scrambling around for 5 to 6 seconds. Maybe instead of pump faking he needs to let it fly and let the receiver make a play.

    I missed this.

I agree. But the author seems to be putting is squarely on Ben. And add to that the arrogant tone of the letter and

I haven't pegged him as anything other than a 2 time Superbowl winner. Whether Ben watches film or not is not an opinion, it's pretty black or white... and it's something you or I know absolutely nothing about.

The gameplan for Sunday's game was on the other side, and the bottom was signed,
"Matt Cassell sucks. Ha Ha Ha."
