    Is this a serious question?
If so of course not who we gonna put in Landry Jones?

Some folks have us drafting a QB this year if we get a high pick, so I decided to ask this question.

If he's still alive and productive over the next 2 years yes... But for a reasonable amount. Need to free up some of the money already invested

I answered no,as in not yet. if I read things right he's signed thru 2015 that's three season counting this one. You can wait till the end for next season to decide.

But salary cap gurus might convince me that extending him and kicking the can down the road might be the better course. Though I will need some convincing.

Dont even get me started on that L. Jones pick BSF. (shakes head in disgust.) Such a waist of a 4th round pick.

I too answered no, thinking they were talking about right now. Don't reward his terrible play. Ben needs to hold on to the ball. Sit him down for a series and let him stalk just like Tomlin does with the tackles and the RB's when they fumble. Send the message that turnovers aren't acceptable from anyone. Ben fumbles too much. Either get rid of the ball, or hold on to it.

My answer didn't really have anything to do with his play so far this yr. it was more of a wait and see answer. They have 2 yrs to decide, so decide in two yrs. He might look great between now and then, if so I'm happy to pay him. He might look terrible or clearly show he's worn out physically, if so seek his replacement. But you don't have to decide now.

I voted no we have 2 more seasons to evaluate his play if he continues to be a turnover machine then get rid of him. Landry Jones should be ready to take over by then (sarcasm).

Seriously, you took my answer! We must be related lol. Ben has had some bad games. In his defense he is pressing bc he is the only option we have to win right now. Guy has the line of a high school team, 2 seconds to throw or die, and people wanna trade or cut him ASAP? You give him a real NFL LT and this team is 2-1.... PERIOD

I voted no mainly because I don't know how an extension would affect the salary cap numbers. If they extend him next year will that push more money onto the cap further down the road? I would rather see them wait till the last year of his contract(hopefully they haven't continued to rework it so his base salary is some ridiculous amount (36 mill)) and negotiate a deal that is both cap friendly, indicative of his worth to the franchise and lets him go out as he wants. Sometimes they don't always get that luxury.

Ill do you one better...every 1st round QB in the last 7 years

Brandon Weedon, Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert, Christian Ponder, Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow, Matt Stafford, Mark Sanchez, Josh Freeman, JaMarcus Russell, Brady Quinn, Vince Young, Matt Leinart

vs the ones that have had a some success

Andrew Luck, RG3, Ryan Tannehill, Cam Newton, Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Jay Cutler

that's 7-13 record...Maybe 8-12 if you want to move Stafford to the PLUS category and only Flacco has the ring...not sure he even belongs in the PLUS side....no way do I try and move Ben yet.

    HACK

Absolutely not. Ben isn't an elite QB and isn't deserving of the kind of money he'll demand. The guy has 2 SB rings and countless wins because of our defence. Give him an average defence and the guy is probably a career 500 QB. We have never had a great offence with Ben as our QB. At least in the past he could make that one big play when we needed it, but he can't even do that anymore and hasn't been able to for a long time. Combine that with his age and the physical hits he's taken and he's not worth keeping at the price he'll demand.

I voted Yes, but the question is, Will Ben want to extend here? I truly believe with the direction the Steelers seem to be heading, and his good buddy Bruce Arians at the helm in Arizona, Ben will be a Cardinal once his contract expires with us.

I would handle his stay with Pittsburgh just as any other player on the team. Continue evaluating his performance its a business you perform or hit the road. QB's are not married to any team but lets not pull the trigger just yet..lets see if this offense can actually get better and if it does Ben will improve.
