"Obviously, you’re not going to win football games when you’re turning the ball over in the manner in which we did. It produced direct points. It produced other point opportunities. You’re not going to beat anybody in the NFL playing like that. We’ve got to get better. We know it. We understand it. It doesn’t make it any less painful but that’s just the reality of where we are. Not enough tonight. Not enough to overcome that. I don’t know if it will ever be enough to overcome that type of turnover deficit. We’ve got to take better care of the football. We acknowledge that those guys are one of the best in the world at getting it. We talked about it all week, but it did change the outcome of this football game, and for that we were below the line, obviously. We’ll continue to move forward in an effort to get better in that regard. Outcomes of games are simple in the NFL. It’s black and white. You’ve got to ring the scoreboard up, you’ve got to maintain possession of the ball and you’ve got to stop people. Obviously, we’re not putting together enough of a combination of those things to be victorious at this point."

    You know...

Part of me almost wants to see this team go 0-16 just to see if this King of Cliches would ever snap and tell us what he really thinks. Maybe he needs an Anger Translator like Luther on Key and Peele.

Or maybe, just maybe that's all this charlatan's got. No real answers.

I know dude I seriously get sick of hearing Tomlin saying the same thing week in and week out. I know that he can't go out there and throw guys under the bus but there's just SO many platitudes and nothing but just good old fashioned sound and fury. WE could give a press conference like that. I mean he doesn't sound like a professional coach. WE know that we have to play better. WE know that we can't turn it over. WE know that's not good enough to win in the NFL. Tell us something we DON'T know. His pressers create the impression that he doesn't really know what HE'S talking about. You know what I mean?

No, I don't know what you mean because his reasoning is 100% accurate. Ben turned the ball over 5 times all by himself. No team is going to win games when their QB plays like that. I would honestly prefer to see a coach on the sideline with a calm demeanor than seeing a Harbough type that throws hissy fits.

Did you not see his eyes when Ben lost that last fumble ? He had tears in his eyes and was visibly upset...Just because he doesn't go off to the media doesn't mean he likes to loose..

I am sure the players get a different version of Coach T in private..

Well actually 4 out of 5 were Ben's but after after the 3rd time who was counting anyway LOL! Other than that I agree with everything you said. What do people expect him to say "We suck, we'll be lucky to win a game this year and we don't have the players on the roster that it will take to fix it". Hell we already know that anyway :lolol:

Exactly. I hate to see either of the Harbaughs on the sidelines. A bunch of whinning babies.

I'm glad he actually acknowledged in public how bad the tackles have been. I saw nothing wrong with what he said this time. Now the actions he takes (or inactions) are what is important. He has disciplined players in the past with benchings but it is apparent that the players do not see him as a mentor that a coach needs to be.

I would like him to say what the passing strategy is. Have they designed pass routes for getting rid of the ball quickly to help the O-line. If so, are they not working because the receivers aren't getting open or the receivers are open but Roethlisberger is not throwing it. Is it our strategy to never throw it away to avoid a sack?

Or are we designing plays that take longer to develop and expecting more from the offensive line?

Or are we just going back to Arians' strategy of one person goes long and the rest runn around to get open after you complete your short route.

But, of course, it would be stupid to give away their planning. I have no problem with what Tomlin said.

I was driving and listened to most of it on the radio but did see the part where they showed Cutler dropping back and getting rid of the ball in less than 2 seconds. Why don't we do that?

Never was / never will be Ben's game. Unfortunately it's as simple as that.

I know exactly what you mean ... a ever increasing smaller part of me wants to see both Colbert & Tomlin stay until their contracts are up in mid 2016, so everyone can see how bad they both F'd up.

I'm saying he's not going in to the REASON for the turnovers. What's the point of giving a presser and saying nothing. It's sound and fury signifying nothing. I know that he's in a tough spot because he can't call his guys out and expect to keep his locker room together but he also sounds like a politician in his pressers making empty promises and never coming through. For example when he said this week that we would see more Wheaton and gives him one look.

Ben did that masterfully in the Pats game a few years ago. That was BA's best called game ever. Then we went back to not doing it as soon as that game was over.

My biggest problem with Tomlin is that he seems to say the right things at his press conferences both pre and post game, but his players aren't responding. We know we have a problem with turnovers, but why can't you solve it, Coach T? We know we can't run the ball. We know Ben doesn't have enough time in the pocket. We know we don't play fundamentally sound, disciplined football. But it's up to the HC to do something, anything to solve these issues. The players are not listening to Tomlin and that's the scary part. He may have already lost this team and this goes back to last year and really the year before when we lost to inferior (supposedly) competition and allowed bad teams to stay in games. He's been given some decent talent to work with over the last several years and hasn't been able to do anything with it. That's on him, the head coach, the maestro. How many times did we see Tomlin on national TV last night with that deer lost in the headlights look (perceived or real)? I said before this season that Tomlin's coaching legacy will be determined over the next 3 years. The way the team is playing now, I'm not sure he has 3 years.

For all thoses that think Tomlin is going to be fired you might think again. I'm not a Tomlin supporter but I think his message is falling on deaf ears. He's a good motivator but he's not an offensive minded guy. And that's what I wanted when we were looking for another coach. We got to many defensive minded personnel on our coaching staff.

Right! Look at what the new HC for Chicago is doing for Cutler and that offense. Tomlin is a lot like Lovie Smith, a defensive minded coach who knows nothing about about how to devise an offensive game strategy. We already have DL for the defense, why do we need a defensive minded HC?

Is there ANY communication between Haley and Tomlin. Tomlin says one thing and Haley does the exact opposite. I dont get their relationship....Anyway, not saying that Tomlin's post game chat isnt important, but, at this point, its the least of this teams worries.

Call it what you want but we're talking about a guy who has basically made his entire career out of escaping the sack and completing 30 yard downfield passes AFTER the play has already broken down. Don't get me wrong I love Ben but that's basically what you get with him and as they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, especially an old dog that's been driven in to the ground as much as he has been over the years.

That's exactly right. I think it's funny that everyone complains about Tomlin not saying enough in the press conferences when Cowher used to say even less after a lost game or bad season LOL!

There's plenty of legitimate criticism to go around for Ben's game last night. He doesn't design the plays or scout/acquire the personnel, though. People always complain that he doesn't find the check down man, but I haven't seen anyone mention that today...
