I think we all agree the Cotchery play was beyond bizzare. Was it the worst playcall ever? I'm not sure. I remember watching BA trot out Logan for a fake reverse hb handoff three times in the same game that netted six yards total. Only reason to run that play they times is so on the fourth you give it to Logan since no one was even looking at him. I digress. Has anyone rewatched the game? Was it a trick play that was blown up. A dbl fake reverse with a bootleg by ben? A pass by Cotchery?

If it was intended to be anything other than what it was, then I can see the potential for Cotchery to pass it there. He did stutter step for a moment in the middle, but there was a man right on him. So, it is possible that the play got blown up so it appeared to be designed as an end around to Cotchery.

That is why it seemd like it was a trick play. Dunlap read it all the way but was totally unblocked. Gilbert stepped forward right past him and didn't even look at him. I cant yhink of any play that calls for your tackle to let the DE just go free.

Haley's not that smart for a trick play. He has never used one that I remember. He also would not of passed it there while running to his left, he is right handed isn't he..

Maybe it was intended to lull them to sleep if repeatedly attempted, but it never had a hope, prayer, or a chance, so time to round file that gimmick and get to fundamentals I suppose.

I honestly don't think it Cotchery was intended to get the handoff. I think it was a dbl fake with Ben throwing it.

He used one last year against the Bengals on the road. A backwards lateral screen pass to one of our WR's (Brown maybe?) and he threw it to a wide open Barron Batch, and we all know the rest... Anyways it worked beautifully, we just didn't make the play. Haley would actually be better off if he added elements like this into his screen game (watch the ATL game, they ran a sweet fake WR screen). We'd at least keep the D on their heels a bit, because all they do now is fire into the backfield and tackle our WR for no gain.

If it would've worked, obviously, we'd be laughing w/ joy at the very least.

Look, they tried something and it didn't work. That simple. It Happens.

I will say that Gilbert should be shown that play on film in front of the whole team. He/we/they, all need to accept our mistakes so that corrections can be made.

The way this offense is playing, I would actually like to see more trick plays, but gee put the right players in for the call.
