Now it's two ****ing games and they looked like hammered dogsh!t while they were stinking up the joint. Sorry to sound so negative, but this team is not playing well... I'm just hoping that with this pathetic start, we can at least see some improvement week over week. Something to build on. Get better each week and make some improvements and at least we will know that the coaches are doing something instead of letting the inmates run the asylum.

Hey, I do not "hate" Ben or anyone for that matter. Now if you ask me if Ben is a top tier QB, that I would question. If you would say Ben is accurate, I would question that. If you said Ben is mobile and avoids getting sacked a lot, I would question that, and if you said Ben never hangs on to the ball to long, I would question that. But hate? I am not a hater.

Hey, Rutan, not to single ya out or anything, but I sort of called you out in another thread, and never responded to your answer about that in it. (It`s probably buried somewhere now, and I don`t feel like "digging it up).
So, for what it`s worth, I thought you made some good points in your reply.
One thing, I didn`t understand, tho, was when you said "I quit caring if they won or lost, a long time ago"...
Man, I just don`t get that.
    Rationally, it makes perfect sense.
Emotionally, I`m just not sure how to "turn the switch off"...
My life would be much simpler, if I just "didn`t care" about things that I do.
    Including Steeler games.
It has been pointed out to me, that I`m not part of the team, it doesn`t really effect me personally, in any way, whether they win or lose, etc...
And over the last couple years, I have come to see the wisdom in that.
I am at least tolerable to live with after a loss, now.
I can keep my voice down enuff during the games (usually), that the neighbors don`t think we are having a domestic dispute, when the Steelers are playing poorly, etc...
But it still DOES matter to me, maybe because I have been supporting them so long, that they are a part of me, or whatever.
    I Don`t Know.
    But,
I do know that i have to deal with other people that know me, and my lifelong support of my team, that they absolutely LOVE to rub it in my face, when we are not doing well(or even lose one game, for that matter)...
So, THAT does affect me, personally.
Evn tho, I long ago, quit rubbng the Clown`s fans noses in how bad their team is doing. I actually have come to respect them for still supporting a team, that gives them no reason to, for so long...
I hope I am not on the verge of finding out what that feels like.
Even during our struggles, between Bradshaw, and Ben, we were NEVER consistentley as bad as the Clowns...
Anyhow, I am wondering, since you "don`t care" if the Steelers win or lose,
Why do you post on this board?
I know this comes across, like I am being a smart ass, but I`m really not trying to.
I just wonder why you wanna be part of the discussion, if you "don`t care" if the team wins or loses?
Why spend your time, talking to those of us who do?
    I`m not saying you shouldn`t.
You have every right, as a lifelong Pittsburgher, who has been around, longer than me, to do what you want.
I just don`t understand your reasons, if you "don`t care".
And I think you misunderstood me, in the other thread.
I already KNEW you were not a troll, because I had seen your posts on this board for a long time.
You are as entitled to your opinion as everyone else is.
If you wanna "see the forest for the trees", more power to ya.
I, for one, am starting to criticize this team, like I NEVER have before.
They`ve NEVER given me reason to doubt their direction, before.
Used to be, when they weren`t good, I knew they weren`t good, and i didn`t expect much.
    This is different.
Even tho, I went into last night`s game, not expecting much...
I still believe we have enuff talent here, to get the job done, and when they were tied at halftime, 10-10...
    My blood started pumping again...
"OK, This is when we snap out of it, and start playing like I know we can!",
    I thought....
    Got let down, again.
I am just waiting for them to SHOW me somethin!... Prove to me, that I`m not bein an idiot, for expecting them to wake up, and play like I KNOW they can...
    Anyhow...
Yeah, I can see where you`re coming from..
as I`ve gotten older, I am more realistic, about how good this team really is(or isn`t), and how little this game of football, really means in my overall life, but, I just can`t completeley "get over it", and shake off a loss, like it doesn`t matter.
So, other than all that... (LOL)...
How "accurate" would Ben have to be, before you stop questioning his accuracy?
I`m Not a big "stat-head", but it seems like he usually completes about 70% of his passes, on a game-by-game basis(at least when healthy), and I would be willing to bet, if you looked it up, he isn`t far below 70% lifetime percentage.
Few qb`s hit that level, or even closer.
    As for his "Mobility"...
I would agree he is less mobile the last 3 years, than the 7 before, but stilll...
    "Avoids getting sacked a lot"???!!!
That`s usually the biggest talking point for the announcers about Ben, is his "escapability", and "ability to extend the play"...
They ain`t coming up with that outta nuthin.
Just like Gruden said before the game last night..
"Yeah he`s been sacked 350(or whatever the exact number was), times in his career, but he`s probably also AVOIDED 350 sacks in his career."
He also did a decent job of running for 7 or 8 yards, on what SHOULD have been a handofff to Jones last night, that would have been blown up at the point of handoff, when, instead, Ben just took off running for the sidelines.
I will give you, that, that showed his "lack of running ability", he was even laughing about it on the way back to the huddle...
That is the LAST thing you would expect from him at this point in his career, but, for his first 7 years or so, I would say he was VERY good at taking off on 3rd and 7 or so, and just getting enuff to get the first down.
Just ask Seahawks fans, if he can scramble... They are STILL crying about him reaching over the goalline in the SuperBowl...

I just disagree with you about him being "mobile", even if it was more evident in the past, than the present.
    GO STEELERS!!!

He seemed pretty mobile on that bs tripping penalty.

I realize that I shouldn't cry about it. Folks will argue that we didn't do enough prior to (or after) the tripping penalty to win. However, take away that (terrible) call and I feel it's fair to say that the entire complection of the game changes (in a rather drastic manner)

I know, Steelers lost, it's their own fault ....bla bla bla Nevertheless, I can't help but to wonder how a ref who's protecting the integrity of a football game moving at a blazing pace, visualized ...with certainty, an intentional tripping ? Sure, their was indeed a trip there, but know way did he need to call it. I don't know, maybe the ref truly believed he saw legitimate tripping ? ...Or, maybe the ref was just wanting to get a rise out of the home crowd ? ...Or, maybe he called it because of the significance of the big play Ben had just made ? Lets be honest here, refs are just as human as us.

The Single most important thing WE DO have going for us is Ben. We lose him and it's over. You give a team like Cinci Roethlisberger and 20 pts would be nothing.

We need Bell in there with Jones and Dwyer taking some of the pressure off him and that in turn helps our pass attack. We need our new hot shot receiver in there. They know it and it's going to happen, let's just hope the learning curve is forgiving.

Our problem is not the best player we have going for us. It's protecting him, getting open for him, taking tons of pressure off him with a solid run threat, and catching the frick'n ball if it so much as touches your fingers.
