No, I saw it later. Got it now.

Thats one thing about you, you've got a freakin memory like an elephant. Im the same way. I'll bet you remember the Bud Selig thread on ESPN after the Nedney flop game from the early 00's.

I'm sorry Bobby but I fail to see the correlation here. I agreed with BF and have played fantasy football but I don't view myself as being hypocritical for not stocking my team with all Steelers and I'll tell you why. Now I have often voiced my concern about the team, how they are playing and have been openly critical of some of the moves they have made however at no time in any pick'em league have I ever been in did I not pick the Steelers to win. Even when it was a mountain of stats against them winning, when they were down and out, I just couldn't not pick them, it even cost me money, not a lot mind you but there were times last season where simply picking the home favorite against them would have meant the difference between consecutive losses and a three week win streak.

Now that is completely different from fantasy football because while I'm always sure they will win as a team( I always believe they will) I am just as positive that they are poor performers in FF maybe because they are such a unselfish team. I have picked a player like Heath or AB as a back-up and the only consistent starter in FF is the defense because typically they don't give up lots of yards or points and manage a turnover here and there. Maybe I am wrong in thinking that the two don't relate but I just don't see it.

By the way I'm still think there is a way to go back and have NOD not throw to Larry Brown twice, to not have Ben deliver two gifts to the Packers and sometimes even hope I could change the outcome of coingate but I believe in magic too so who knows.

Actually, I forgot about the points but take that out of the equation for a minute, you know as well as i do that most of those predictions would remain the same. Some of you aren't grasping the realism vs fandom aspect, there has to be a part of you that thinks they can win, why not get behind that?

If we did that there would be no need for a prediction thread unless the title reads, "How many points will the Steelers WIN by". HaHaHa

I see it as the same. Surely you want the Steelers individually to be the best in the league at their position, right? Then why not pick all of them for your team?

Think that's reaching a little Bobby and not even what I thought you were alluding to originally. I thought you were talking about putting enemy players, namely Bengals and Ravens on your squad. Which I'm not sure is the same either

Blast Furnace, One thing for sure is alot of Fans respect you on the board because not everyone can get away with posting this type of thread. If I would have posted this........ oh man.... I would have been flamed so darn bad that the website it self would have caught a virus and burned down, however, I did enjoy reading the responses.

I knew this would ruffle some feathers, slick, and considered not posting because of it but also figured since I have been here a long time, most would know there was no ill intent behind it. This wasn't born just out of the prediction thread, for weeks there has been a lot of I am a realist fan and you are drinking kool aid, I must have been hibernating when being a realist trumped being a fan, why can't I believe in my team and see the positives without being delusional?

The reason for this thread was to open dialogue, not offend, sorry if it rubbed you the wrong way :hello:

I can tell you why you see those.

It's an over-reaction many people have formed to the "rah rah" types who demean or criticize those fans who express any kind of worry, disappointment, or dismay over a bad performance. On the old board, there seemed to be an endless war between the "realists" and the kool aid drinkers / rose colored glasses. Old feuds die hard. :)

It's one of the reasons I made this thread back in our infancy here:

I remember that post, just reread it, outstanding post

Funny, at the end of that post you speak of the optimists pulling you back to earth, for me, when I am mad after a loss, it's the negative posts that brings me back to earth :smiley1:

This didn't offend me at all. I love threads like this. I love threads that ruffle feathers because in my opinion, that keeps the board intresting.

I only picked against them for the first time this week in the predict the score thread because I need to win the check that comes with it (and the ring and trophy will be a bonus), I got wives to feed...

The slippery slope started with the OP and the FF observation is further down the line. It's the same thing. BFs statement was that when it comes to picking winners and losers you shouldn't go against the Steelers even though logic says otherwise. Well when picking players for a FF team aren't you picking individual winners and losers? When you have a choice between AJ Green and Antonio Brown you should pick Brown because you should want Brown to have a better season than Green despite what logic dictates.

    Its the same principle.
