    Do you play Fantasy Football?
If you do, I sure as hell hope that your entire roster is filled with Steelers and no one else. If not then you are a hypocrite.

And the same goes for EVERYONE who agreed with this post. ;)

I don't believe all losses are created equal. Sometimes you have to look at opponent, location and performance in the game. You can't tell me if we lost in Denver or Chicago people wouldn't feel a little different. The bottom line is we looked terrible and we have for a while. Until we see this team play with more fire and alot more mistake free and efficient there will be reason enough to doubt them. Doesn't make you less of a fan.

I HATE fantasy football and the only time I ever have picked against has been based solely on point spread, and even that is only a handful of times. Simple rule of thumb with the Steelers and points spreads, they don't win big. I never ever pick the Steelers to lose. But nice try.

    Realist versus Fandom.

If you can say off all the loses in our division we were the best loss due to our performance I would agree with you. The Ravens lost to Bronco's, Bengals lost to Bears, and Browns lost to Dolphins, Browns were up at halftime. If you watched the game we have nothing to look forward to from the offensive side as we sucked. The defense did a good job but can't win us games with the way the offense played.

This week the Bengals WR and TE will kill us. I don't think we will stop AJ Green and if by chance we sell out on the passing game the RB's will hurt us. We just don't have the offense to keep up this year.

On the Kool-Aid side, when I see people predicting 14-2 after week one I make that statement. It probably should be the bong pipe but I refrained.

No, I'm not, don't go trying to pick a fight. I meant in the context of "I'm a better fan then you" I don't think I am a better fan then anyone.

Simply saying if you are watching the game, you must think they can win, why not predict a winning score for them then? And going with your head as opposed to your heart is basically the whole concept of realism vs fandom. I have a place for realism and the sun don't shine there. I'll go with the Steelers every time.

:thumbs_up:Great post, BF! I'll constructively criticize my team until the cows come home but come game day, I'm rooting like crazy for a win and really believe there's not a game they can't win, no matter how big an underdog they may be.

I also hate fantasy football. It ruins fans.

My coworker is a Steeler fan but he worships AJ Green and Ray Rice because of fantasy football. Very pathetic.

Well I guess my answer would be that its a carry over from other areas of my life. Im not an emotional decision maker and rarely make decisions from my heart. Im one to analyze decisions and sometimes to a fault. When asked what I think the Steelers will do, I simply do what comes natural.

Thanks Jack, and others who have said so:hello:

Again, not trying to piss in anyones wheaties, just trying to have a civi discussion on realism and fandom and why people feel the need to inject it into something as fanatical as this. No need for anyone to get defensive, seen a couple of ugly posts, keep it friendly everyone

No worries. It tends to get chippy around here when the team stinks. Winning cures everything.
