Do we have any of these guys? I am always reading articles on various football media sites and you just see these very exciting, game changing players on every team it seems but the Steelers. Granted, I follow the Steelers as most so their top guys aren't as "exciting" to me (if that makes sense) because I see them all the time and all Steelers fan are a bit in the dumps lately but I think the point still stands.

Polomalu can still put on a show and impact games but he doesn't create turnovers anywhere like he used to and he gets hurt often. The only other players that even remotely come to mind is Ben and possibly Antonio Brown. But Ben either has a super exciting "How did he pull that off?!" play or a "What the hell is he doing?!" play... there is like no inbetween lol and Brown just has his big plays here and there.

Other than that I am drawing a blank. Hopefully Bell can turn into that but we just have to wait and see. Like what have we been doing these past years? Why aren't we finding these guys or going for one in Free Agency or trade? Is the whole "Its the Steeler Way Hum Ho Hum" thing becoming a drag for the success and culture of this team? This whole never trade, never do anything exciting or risky way of running things just doesn't seem to cut it anymore.

Where is our Adrian Peterson? Calvin Johnson? Jamaal Charles? Earl Thomas?s Von Miller? J.J. Watt? Colin Kaepernick? Jimmy Graham? The list goes on...

Does anyone get what I mean? I hope I don't come off as an Uncle Tom type Steeler's fan lol (Uncle Dan? Steely Dan? =p)

Did you see Jarvis Jones absolutley "STONE" C. Johnson in the backfield Sunday??!...
One of the FEW bright spots of the day.
I think he will have more...
I thinK Wheaton will put a few "highlight plays" on tape, he just ain`t done it yet... same with Shamarko...
At least that`s what I`m hopin...
By the way I did see Ziggy have at least one "blow the back up in the backfield" play Sun...
    Have faith...
    GO STEELERS!!!

I agree on Jarvis I think he will evolve into one of the more threatening pass rushers in the league from what I've seen. He just has "it".

Steel Acorn from this message board wrote something that I really agree with: our players seem to lack decisiveness. I think our players have been drilled so much to not make a mistake that their peak performance likely suffers. Too much time playing to not make a mistake rather than playing loose in order to beat the guy in front of them.

We have explosive game changers, we just need to let them do their thing for better or worse. It can't get worse than what happened vs Ten.

I was telling a fellow fan at work yesterday that the only bright spot of the game for me was when Jarvis almost decapitated CJ. That hit fired that stadium back up for a brief moment and renewed a little hope in me. Unfortunately the "offense" then happened.

Not enough for my liking. When is the coaching staff going to concede that he needs to be on the field? He is clearly more talented that Worilds and he needs to be starting and taking the majority of the snaps. I was exaggerating a little, but Jones needs to be out there for the bulk of the snaps. He's got a nose for the football and he's a playmaker. LET HIM PLAY!

The fear of mistakes thing is a key. I worked with college teams that were plagued by fear of making a mistake. The weird thing is, this fear usually was a result of a screaming, aggressive coach, and Tomlin doesn't seem to be that way. Cowher was more likely to instill fear of mistakes in a player, spit flying, but I think he had a knack of being in your face, yet supportive, at the same time. I believe that is what made him great. Not sure about Tomlin. Perhaps behind the scenes he is more fear-inducing than he appears on the sideline. The players do seem to be playing scared, though, and that makes performaing at the top of your game a tough thing to do. Maybe what we interpret as playing "flat", is actually playing "tense".

Free Agency and trade being the well-known route the Steelers have constantly taken for key players in the last forty years...

Good point Acorn, I completely agree. The guys seem to be trying too hard to play well, and in doing so, get in their own way. If they shut their brain off and just play football, they should start to play much better.
