same old steelers

what bugs me is that we saw this same performance during the end of last season and preseason this year and they can't adjust or execute. do they practice during the week? I thought practice makes perfect but it's obvious it's not working for the Steelers.

also on defense, we're not getting the sacks and turnovers and I see them doing the same thing year-in and year-out. I don't see any creativity in the defense. On the blitzes, I always see the guys in the middle doing stunts that the opponents always manage to pickup. absolutely no creativity on blitzes.

 

Nutshell!

 

I haven't seen one upgrade from last year. I actually think we got worst.

You can't tell me that our running backs are better than Mendenhall.

You can't tell me that our oline is better than Starks, Colon, Pouncey, Foster, Gilbert

You can't tell me that our receivers are better without Wallace. Not that I wanted Wallace but he did require double coverage.

And as of right now we have not found adequate replacements.

 

You cant tell me this is even a conversation at this point. Running backs? We have Redman which is used to this offense. Dwyer who was cut and brought back again because of injuries. LSH and Felix Jones. Give these running backs some time. Holy shiat. Its one game.

Oline is not doing well at all given the amount of talent we are suppose to have.. Again its only one game. Lets see after week two what we have.

Mikey would not help this team at all other then to spread the defense out. Miami paid way too much and are going to find out he is really who we thought he was. A one trick pony

That's a common misconception. It's more realistically that "practice makes permanent." If you practice incorrectly or ineffectively, you perform incorrectly or in an ineffective way, and it becomes second nature to do so. The saying should be more like "effective/correct practice makes perfect."

 

Waaay to wordy, but correct! (Take it from someone who knows..)
I would say the same thing my pee-wee coach used to tell us...
"You PLAY how you PRACTICE"!!!!

 

Same old thing year in and year out? How long, exactly, have you been following this team? One of the talking sports heads this morning on the radio hit the nail on the head when he said that all the mistakes, injuries, etc. this first weekend can be attributed to the way they practice anymore. He called practices no better than flag football so, practice doesn't make perfect anymore. Can't get players hurt during practice. Just on opening weekend!

 

The Steelers sure seem able to get players hurt during practice ... Allen, Burress, Spaeth, Bell, Redman, LSH, N.Williams, Cheadle, Hawthorne, McNeil, and Embernate all come to mind.

 

Every other team is under the same rules regarding practice and it seems we (and maybe others) come out unprepared. 0-4 in the preseason was a glimpse of what was to be expected. And it's not that we lost 4 preseason games but the execution of the 1st team offense was terrible. If we would have executed half way decent with the first team and lost the games because of all the backups I would be fine with that. But the starting lineups on offense did not play well at all.
