the good: believe it or not there was some good here1. defense -- the defense for the most part went above and beyond considering the position they were constantly put into. troy looks like his old self, as does Woodley. we held chris Johnson to 70 yds on 25 carries. the titans couldn't pass on us consistently. our entire offensive unit should line up and apologize one at a time to each defensive member for their performance. at this rate we might just be in a position to draft jadeveon clowney2. special teams coverage was solid3. we're not jacksonvillethe bad: too much to mention so i'll just keep it simpleo-line -- no running lanes whatsoever. Adrian Peterson couldn't get yds behind these guys today.... not even sure barry sanders could've either........ 5 sacks. when your best lineman is the one that went undrafted, there's a problemoffensive coaching -- really????? we can't move the ball to save our lives, and don't go to the no huddle until it's too late????? the dunce hat goes on haley for this one.return game was really non-existantwhile the defense played well enough, we still had no turnoversthe ugly -- almost don't have the heart to write this one out, but here goes1. injuries: pouncey out for the season at the hands of his own teammate. cortez allen out for the game, and who knows what the deal for next week will be. foote hurt. ryan Clarke dinged up. not a single healthy rb in the bunch....when did redman all of a sudden develop ball security issues.when our most valuable player is the other teams return man, we have issues.this game was more painful to watch than the chargers last season, and it's just too painful to post any more to this thread

The good: Jarvis Jones gave me a glimmer of hope for our future.

The Bad: The play of the entire offense.

The Ugly: Still can't buy a turnover or defensive splash play. When the crowd is booing before halftime in the season opener, you know nothing good has happened here in a while.

PATHETIC. I could say a few good things about the Steeler performance but then when I listed the BAD and the UGLY it would be a very, very long post. I've been a Steeler fan for 55 years since I was 14 years old and this is the most pathetic and embaressing home game I have ever seen considering the supposed talent on this team.
They have not fixed any of the problems we have been watching for quite some time and they don't look like they even try to fix them. I know it is only one game, but it is a continuation of late last year and pre-season. I have always been a big supporter of the next game being better. As of now I don't believe that and really expect the Steelers to be 0-4 when they get to the bye week.
After that I think they will be lucky to play 500 ball. A lot of the breaks went against us today but some went our way. The injuries played a large part in the loss but the turnovers, penalties and bone head play calling and execution played a bigger part. I am tired of Tomlin playing not to lose instead of playing to win. The end of the first half was a perfect example: could have had 40 seconds back on the clock with 2 or 3 time outs left and instead they act like everything is under control and we can just go in the locker room and we don't have to waste the time and effort to take a couple of shots down the field and maybe try a long field goal. That is not someone playing to win.
I put that on Tomlin along with the general attitude and game management that leaves me watching this team and trying to remember how Steeler teams have and should look. I don't like or dislike Tomlin, I don'teven know him, only the act he puts on trying to look a lot smarter and cooler than he is. The fact is that he is in over his head and because of that he doesn't know exactly what is wrong or how to fix it. That is not his fault, that is somebody being in the wrong place. I hope he can grow into being able to handle controlling and managing all the aspects of being a head coach in the NFL. So far, until this job he has only had to handle the responsibilities of a position coach. He might be learning the painful difference between a position coach and a head coach.
While I firmly believe this year is not one anyone will remember fondly, I will be watching and rooting ever week regardless of their record. After this many years thats the only think I can do. I just hope we start seeing some improvement in the many troubles areas of this team.
Who knows, Maybe I'm wrong and the Steelers will come out next week and run the table. Time will tell, it always does.

The Good: Very little. Just a few splash plays here and there: Jones, Troy, and Woodley

The Bad: Pretty much everything else. Bad OL blocking, no play makers on offense, D gave up to many 3rd downs and no TOs

The Ugly: The injuries. But this is just part of the standard now, no?

I can't remember a loss that left such a bad taste in my mouth. I know it is ridiculous to write off a team after one game, but where is the rescue going to come from. If today is even close to indicative of how we will play the rest of the year, we will be chasing a Top 5 draft pick. At least Pouncey can now wash his hands of the whole debacle: "Don't look at me, I was injured"

just the ugly....the entire game, and tomlins press conference. I would rather him come out to the media mad, upset, and just say "well we completely and utterly sucked today. We sucked as a team, people got hurt. Talk to you guys on tuesday." Thats better than hearing the same old political junk we need to recognize the standard, and next man up, and we felt we did some good things and we were comfortable in this aspect blah blah blah blah. Not a tomlin basher but show some attitude, fire these guys up, call them all out! Something!! Because nothing else is working. I want a "Playoffs, you wanna talk about playoffs" type of press conference! One that will be remembered. Nothing else seems to work.

I remember the days when we could say most of our backups could start on other teams.

now, most of our starters would be backups on other teams.

they lost 3 players in one game to season ending injuries. thats bad and ugly. also has to be some kind of record.

amazing. one of the biggest concerns on this board was guys getting hurt. 1 game into the season and 3 guys go down for the year. 2 of them are captains.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you have a defense that is swarming you, isn't there plays to counter this? For instance screen passes and draws. Maybe 3 step drop backs. Why doesn't our offense make adjustments? Ben threw one quick slant to Brown that was nice. Why not more? We lost at home to lower level team with a lower level QB. Maybe Tomlin needs to take off the sunglasses. Fanforlife above said that this play was a continuation from late last year and pre season. I say its a continuation from the last two seasons. I've been saying for the last three years that this team will only go as far as Big Ben will take them but its obvious to me he doesn't have what it takes to carry a mediocre team. His play and decision making these last two or three years have been terrible. He'll never see the HOF and this team has officially entered the drought era. It was a nice run while it lasted and Ben was a big part of that. I thank him for rejuvenating my interest in football back in 2004 however, as Don Meridith would sing, "turn out the lights the party is over". Just my 2 cents. Flame away.
