Does the jersey really matter?

Kind of a silly post, but just getting back into the swing of things. Thinking back over the past few seasons when we have been on the road in the early part of the season in places like Miami, Tennessee, etc. The home teams have the choice of jersey color (light ve dark) and it always seems like the Steelers have been forced to wear the black jersey. Yet, when they are home they choose to also wear the black (can't think of a single time we were home and wore white). I keep thinking of the scene where the line (and others) are sitting on the bench and a few of the "workers" have been holding a sheet of plywood over them for shade.

So...do you think it really matters to the players which jersey they wear on game day? :hmmm:

It mattered in 05 when we were on the road for the playoffs and then had the chance to wear the black in the Super Bowl but for superstitious reasons we chose otherwise. I HIGHLY prefer the black jerseys though. I don't own any away jerseys.

I think the only time it could matter is in hot weather. If a home team can make visitors wear dark jerseys, it might give them a slight advantage.

psychologically, black is a more intimidating color but it's not going to effect the outcome of the game. Only way is like Scott said, hot weather.

Use to wear white for almost all home games 1966-1969. Looked it up....

Steelers: 1964 vs. Rams; 1966 every home game except vs. Redskins; 1967 every home game except vs. Vikings; 1968 every home game except vs. Saints; 1969 every home game; 2005 SB XL vs. Seahawks.

If uniforms had that much of an effect, I would be bringing in the guy responsible for the bumblebee uniform in for a serious chat.
