Thank you... It's been a bit. I wish we could bottle up his heart and dump it in the Gatorade tanks on the sideline for the current crop!

Just needed a QB... We'd be double digit hardware!

Wow! I totally forgot that he had cancer. Glad he seems to be doing well now. He always left everything he had out on the field. You always knew you got max effort with that guy.

STUD! Broke my heart when he went to the BEARS!!! But I was a youngster. Happens to a lot of the greats! Merril was Boss! Hahahaha I wish I could get a legit 33 jersey these days and not a personalized invent. Believe me, I've weighed it and doing so cheapens the experience/package

    Great thread, Dobbler!
Forgot all about Hoge, when we were talking about "underrated" Steelers in the off season.
One of the few bright spots of the "Brister" era... LOL!!!
    Welcome to the board!:yeehaw:

Hoge has always been one of my favourites as well - and good to be reminded of that Denver game.

I remember those years so well, I also remember thinking is we had a real QB then how much better would have hoge been. For the younger fans that weren't around or too young to remember that era, well it was tough after Bradshaw and the running game we had with the offensive line this team put on the field was second to none!!! If the Steelers had anything close to a QB back then there would be at least 9 trophies in the case as we had the talent and depth at every position except for QB, we never could get anyone that was anyway good. I pray for Hoge as I know all too well what that chemotherapy and radiation does, I went through it and if my cancer comes back I really don't know if I could go through it again, it was that hard.

I hate to hear that you had cancer but at least it's in remission. My papaw got cancer and decided to take the chemo and at the time I wanted him to because I thought it might help him live but once I saw what it did to him I would have rather him not have taken it. When my other papaw that just died a couple of months ago got cancer I said that I didn't want him to take the chemo because it's so bad. He wanted to take it but his heart was not strong enough. I felt like he died a MUCH more dignified death than my other papaw because he didn't lose so much weight and still had his hair and stuff like that ya know?
