Isn't it strange that the show hasn't thrown so much as a hint in that direction yet? (Unless you count Ned's lawyer speak in the second episode)

I mean, there are people who read the first book in 1995 who've walked with an almost certain knowledge going on 20 years now! :lolol: Seriously. You know in the very first book what his... er, I'll say "who his mother is" so as not to even vaguely get spoilery. True, you have to connect the dots, but it's there big as day if you pay attention to what is really being said.

Even Jojen and Meera throw clues at Bran, but we never got to see that conversation either. (Unless they're saving it. Maybe saving it all for when Bran really opens his "third eye.")

What's really funny about it all though is that even knowing, it may ultimately not matter. GRRM is such a twisted, evil puppet master, he may just use it to sucker us again.

That is somewhat impressive. Admittedly, I'm reading the series again and I didn't see it the first time I read GOT. I'm going to send you a PM to make sure I'm on the same page.

What seals the deal for me is that when the show's producers approached GRRM about making the show, they claimed to be huge fans of the books. So to test them, he asked them one question:

    "Who is Jon Snow's mother?"

If they were students of the book and answered correctly, then he knew they'd do the books justice. Obviously, they got it right. ;)

GRRM was on Conan talking about the Red Wedding and reacting to fans reacting to the Redding Wedding. Enjoy.

Watched it last night. It was funny, but GRRM has answered those exact questions almost the exact way ad nauseum now. LOL I'm sure Conan was probably trying not to ask anything spoilery. But still an enjoyable, insightful interview. Especially for those who maybe don't obsess and read/watch every little thing they can down to amateur interviews at conventions. ;)

Foolish of me. But considering GRRM often joked that he'd be going off the grid and in hiding for a while when episode 9 aired, I was almost hoping that he'd soothe people's wounds a bit by announcing that book 6 was done and coming out soon. "Oh sweet summer child..."

Yeah, I don't devour every "____-con" interview set that's out there, but from the few I've seen, the answers are pretty repetitive. There's a clip from Lena Headey on Conan that was pretty good, too.

Not exactly the "going off grid" that GRRM was predicting for himself. Announcing the new book would have been so nice of him. Especially since I've had to wait soooooo long for it to come out.

lol. You're in the same boat as most of us now. I only had about a 2 year wait for ADWD. I don't go as far back as some. ;)

I finally got around to watching the finale last night. Am I the only one who wishes that Arya and the Hound could get their own spin off? Wouldn't that be awesome? The two of them just travelling the countryside as frenemies, killing camps of unsuspecting Freys. I could watch at least 5 or 6 episodes of that. :-D

There's the little homicidal psychopath I love. :)

Perhaps a bad characterization. They have it coming after all. ;)

I've been disappointed from the start at how they're wasting the Hound. He's so much of a cooler character than they've shown. But lately they've been picking it up a bit.

Overall, I thought the finale was a bit of a let down. There was one or 2 events I thought they could move up in timeline to end the season on a bang and not hurt the story. Having Dany crowd surfing as white liberator, female, Jesus was too much. For one, Essos is widely racially mixed, and the slaves there were not from any one race. Slavery was more based on who got conquered, or who was unlucky. (Kind of like Roman slavery) They should have made the crowd a healthy mix. Now it just looks like pandering and the worst types of exploitation films. Here comes the good white person to save the day. (No. I don't think that was their intent. But Hollywood has a history of it, and the comparison is going to be made)

My daughter who hasn't read the books yet said "that felt like the middle of a book, not the end." LOL. I told her, "that's because it was." Next year is going to be intense. ASOS, for being my favorite book in the series, was kind of slow for the first 60%. Then the Red Wedding happens, and all hell breaks loose. Seemingly every other chapter has a huge, or shocking, or fist pumping scene. I hope they don't mess it up. Season 4 may go down as the best season of any show ever... if they do it right.

    Heh heh. :innocent:

LMAO. My wife and I felt the same way. It was like GOT meets Jesus Christ Superstar or something. I'm surprised they didn't break into song.

Overall, I thought it was just- OK. It was somewhat of a letdown, but 'ain't none of it bad'. Then again, this is coming from the guy who had stars in his eyes last week thinking they'd give us a season finale for the ages.

I thought the finale was fine. They hit on every single sub-plot kinda wrapping it up. Yeah, Dany crowd surfing was a little too much but that's OK. I was hoping for an easy episode since I was still in shock from the Red Wedding.

No crap. I thought they could have done a little more with the Jon angle. He came off as a little douchey. Was feeling Dani for a bit, but as you said the White Liberator is starting to wear thin. Just a tad over the top there. Just started the books though. Must say that it's damn near word for word for the first few episodes.

So my biggest anticipated character has been cast. Say hello to Oberyn Martell aka The Red Viper.

    http://winteriscoming.net/2013/06/red-viper-cast/

I'm not familiar with the actor. But give him a little sun, the right wig and makeup, and he'll certainly look the part. Now... Does he have the charisma and swagger? "her name was Elia. You raped her. You murdered her. You killed her children. "

    Can't wait! :D

Sweet. He looks familiar actually, but I can't place from where.

I know a lot of fans were hoping for Oded Fehr, who would have made a great Red Viper.

I always pictured him as Antonio Banderas, but this guy will do as long as he can act the part.

This guy looks kind of like a Latino Liam Neeson.

Now that you mention it...he really does. I pictured someone else, but I can't put my finger on who the actor is. I'll have to think about it.

A deleted scene they showed at Comic Con yesterday featuring Tywin and Pycelle. It was cut for story reasons, but I wish they had left it in. Great scene. Tywin is such a boss. He'd easily be my favorite character if not for the whole "evil moral flaws" thing.

That was a great scene. I love how it showed the other side to Pycelle. Tywin is a total boss, it's too bad about that whole evil thing. Charles Dance is such a great fit for him.
