You're right. The contract wouldn't have set the Steelers back. His performance would have.

 

I doubt he would sign the franchise tag two years in a row, he would probably demand a trade while he's still in his prime and this is his first chance to get paid.

 

They lost the player they wanted to keep. They did it in a way that was a bad look among players. It would be worse this time because a cornerback is a lot more likely to have some longevity than a running back.

I'm not sure who that Kahn guy is, but Khan's negotiating position is worse because he waited so long to make an offer.

 

You are assuming his play would have dropped off as much without taking the year off. That is, at best, a dubious assumption.

 

Part of the problem with AB back then there was talk his contract was out of guaranteed money, and he was jealous of the attention JuJu was getting along with the team voting JuJu MVP.

I think he didn't feel wanted, and he thought / saw that the ship was sinking. So he engineered his exit.

Not a reach at all. Bell was clearly about the money. Didn't seem to break his heart taking a year off. Once he got the money he coasted.

This is why I am thinking JPJ may just want to sign a 3-year contract. If his new contract is 4 or 5 years that puts him into his 30s for his next contract.


I still like my original idea of the Steelers signing Joey to a 5 year $150 million contract. $30 million per year will not seem like much in 5 years, and then Joey can say he signed the largest CB contract in history. WINNER-WINNER

 

Steelers made an offer for four years 115 million and it was re-parted they

i read that the Steelers offered him a four year 115 million dollar deal and he declined it. Now I don’t know wat he garuntee are. The yearly value would be 28.75. Million which isn’t bad. The reporter listed the, being far apart still. Im betting JPJ probably wants 30 million per year with 3 years guaranteed.
