Pederson was a disaster, starting with getting rid of the on-campus stadium to getting rid of the classic script and colors.

Is the purpose of college football to be competitive?

If so, probably 80% of NCAA teams should close up shop.

This is why I don't follow college football.

So, by that logic, all MAC teams should close up shop?

I realize as both of your comments are tongue in cheek but the footprint isn’t big enough

Plus it doesn’t solve the problem of the stadium not being on or near campus

As a Browns fan, this is such a confusing issue. I remember Bud Dupree tearing his acl in Heinz field a few years ago. I texted my Steelers buddy and the first response was that they share the field with Pitt and that’s why it’s essentially mush come November. The Steelers are a top-notch organization and I cannot believe that they’re having to share their field. Meanwhile, The Browns are building a domed stadium that will rival what the Rams have in LA. The Lions and Colts both have beautiful new facilities. The Steelers should not have to share with anyone. And if money is the issue, then that team needs to be sold to a billionaire who can build them the facility that they deserve.

I’m certain the field will be in excellent condition for the opening game but by late October, November it is always a sand pit. Add in the High School playoff games and the field is always destroyed. I can’t believe the NFL and Players association doesn’t step in and say enough is enough and force them to abandon all those extra games. Once again the almighty dollars win.

The issue comes down to Pittsburgh being a smaller city.

Where do you move the stadium? Impact on infrastructure? Parking for 60k people? Hotel capacity?

The Steelers are not moving from Heinz/Accrisure Stadium. Rooney already said so.
They are already discussing renovations relative to the 2030/2031 lease expiration.

Anybody that thought they were hasn’t been paying any attention since 1933.

Pitt does need to get their own field though.

Spent a lot a time there chilling between classes and on weekends. It would be tough seeing it go. But, you know, progress.

I was going to agree with you, but a look at the schedule says that Pitt will have played 2 games on it before the Steelers opener. Including one the day before. I'm afraid it's going to look torn up on gameday.

I really do hope Art is gone by 2031.

New Lease agreement could have a condition that would limit how the field is used during the regular season.

I am just saying, I am surprised that I don't see more people asking about Art's retirement, or when he is going to step down. 74 years old on September 14th.

Granted both Art Sr. and Dan would continue to be part of the team until their deaths, but both men knew when it was time to stop making it a full time job.

Dan Rooney was 70 years old when he stepped down as president of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2003
Art Rooney Sr. was 73 years old when he stepped down as the president of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1974.

I don't understand the issue here. It's not like HSs and Pitt started playing games here 3 seasons ago. And tbh, as a Pitt fan I'd prefer an on-campus stadium regardless of the field conditions.
