I was rooting for the Steelers in that Super Bowl, but Henderson did have a strip sack of Bradshaw.

This is why I'm not too worried about this season. The 2027 NFL Draft has a loaded QB class. We don't know how many of them will come out, but the sheer number of them pending means if this season completely implodes it will definitely serve as a silver lining by resulting in a young QB.

I was told the same thing a year ago about the 2026 class

I’ll believe it when I see it

Yes they still have to perform well.

If you look at last year's class, they disappointed but they didn't have the sheer numbers that this one does. For this class to suffer the same type of freefall we saw from last year's group they would need to have half of them opt to stay in college, and then also have disappointing seasons among those declaring. Given the number of options we're talking about, that seems very unlikely to me.

Also what has been interesting in this year's preseason schedule has been the performance of last year's underperforming class. Ty Simpson went off the board at 13 overall and looked like a future starter. Carson Beck surprisingly played with poise as well. Fernando Mendoza I think is very likely to at the very least be a good QB1. Cade Klubnik won the QB2 job in NY and showed a strong early grasp of things. And so on. That class may end up being closer to their early evaluations than where they went off the board.

Looking at the 2027 QB Class so far...

Sayin played like a machine, he's like watching a metronome. Manning dealt from the pocket like an NFL starter, looked great. Mensah looked like the total package. Carr got the job done after a slow first half, same with Chambliss. And so on. It's early but we're gonna have QB options in next year's draft.

I can promise you that, as of today, only 3 QBs would be classified as "Franchise Altering QBs"... and that is me being very optimistic. The rest are a tsunami of question marks; far more than 2026 ever had. That statement, by itself, is saying something.

Sayin and Carr I give you. Manning I still have my doubts. Chambliss is a gamer for certain but his inability to read Zone Coverage consistently still annoys me and Mensah is very limited already and still has a slow release speed. Sellers though seems to have picked it up in terms of his overall throwing mechanics.

Looked a lot snappier this go around. Still need to see more of them; we both do. That said, a good first start but not the end.

I will concede that the likes of Sayin, Carr and Moore are worthy of being called "Franchise QB".... for this week alone. As a whole?! Get back to me at the conclusion of the College Football Season. Way too many unanswered questions.

I can say this as a bonus; the QB that @Blast Furnace@Blast Furnace wanted in LaNorris Sellers showcased massive growth in both his throwing mechanics and release speed. Both are much snappier this time around than they were a year ago.

Of course. But this is an abnormally talented and deep QB class cooking right now. Comparing it to last year's group many are the height you want as well.

So worst case the Steelers can do a deep dive on them and get one a bit later than that top 5-10 range. Maybe end up with a guy like Simpson mid first round, who doesn't quite slot up top. For example I think once teams start doing the pre-draft nuking of the QBs Sayin will drop a little due to his non-ideal size and arm strength but he would be able to do everything McCarthy wants in this offense.

There's room for them to totally implode but it's a different feel this year with this group.

Well, yeah, with YOUR definition of ANYTHING.

Cowher won A LOT without Ben. A LOT more meaningful games than Tomlin won without Ben.
