I wish I knew why people have said this? I understand that you had some extremely intelligent, stunningly handsome people here before but how can you tell through the internet?

I think it's true that the team isn't as good as it was when Tomlin started.

But I think it's also true that the team's been held together with spit and duct tape for the last few years. And I don't think a lot of coaches could do that.

I personally would have preferred a rebuild. Maybe not right when Ben was done. But when we realized that Kenny wasn't an NFL starter.

But that wasn't the marching orders that were given to the team.

Tomlin didn't do anything special. Your consistent positive appraisal of his coaching abilities are way off the mark. He should have been fired 10 years ago.

I would have been fine if he was fired after Ben got hurt.

If we really want to use hindsight, the best thing for the team would have been to trade Ben, Tomlin, and everything else the day after the GB SB loss.

It was all downhill from there.

We'll see what happens this year.

If we come out and win 11+ games (especially 12+) without some kind of freak event, I think it will be clear that MM is a better coach than Tomlin.

I don't think I am overvaluing Tomlin. But I do think lots of people undervalue him because of the history of the team.

It certainly sucks that we haven't won a playoff game in way, way too long. He plays a role in that (although I think a bigger part is also Ben and turnovers).

It also sucks that he had a playoff record that was below 0.500. I do think that number should be put in context. Because he's really being penalized for coaching teams to the playoffs that really had no business getting there.

Obviously, I think my opinion is right. Just like you think your opinion is right.

I tend to think I have more compelling arguments...but that's unsurprising because I'm the one that made them.

Bottom line is that I was not sad to see Tomlin leave. I think it probably should have happened sooner. I think we probably need to bottom out to get the best chance to draft a QB. And the data suggests that Tomlin was pretty good at getting teams that weren't that great to decent records. I don't think McCarthy has that "problem".

So once Rodger's is gone, I expect that we'll see a bad year or two.

Which is what I think we need.

We have 10 wins back to back to back, and been to the playoffs 5 out of the last 6 years. Don't try hedging your talk now. If McCarthy is better coach than Tomlin, which I hope he is we should win more games. You can't have it both ways

Then why couldn't Steelers win anything with Le'Veon Bell, Antonio Brown and HOF QB? Along with pro-bowl OL? If he was a good as you believe he was... why couldn't we win a Super Bowll with All Pro WR, RB and HOF QB? Answer is... his defense sucked, which is his specialty and responsiblitiy.

1 season is not enough to see if a head coach is better that the other....We need to look in the long run.Chuck Noll was 1-13 in his first season,Jimmy Johnson was 1-15 but both had a plan for the future.

No matter the reason why,McCarthy was much better in year 2 that year 1 with his 2 previous teams....5-6 more wins in year 2

Tomlin had a high floor and able to win games when the steelers were outplayed, outgained and outcoached but his ceilling was way too low in the last decade!

In Philly he would been fired after 2018

You know if You hold people to their Tomlin won with Cowher team theory then Tomlin also won with a team Cowher went 6-10, and 8-8 with, but because I actually know football, I know that 12 guys don't make up a team, and even less were on the 2nd SB. Hell you could put all 12 on one side of the ball , and you couldn't even change personnel groupings. You would be stuck in one formation the whole game. LoL

I don't know why couldn't the HOF HCs Jimmie Johnson, and Don Shula win a SB with Dan Marinos team???
Why can't all the proven HC win a playoff game with the Chargers in the last 6 years.
Why has Dallas had one of the most highly talented roster on , and off and not been back to the SB since 1995.
    Maybe because its hard

    LoL.
They didn't go to teams that just won 10 games 3 years straight, and went to the playoffs 5 out of the last 6 years.
    Thank You. Try Again

Why are you always bringing up the Eagles? Newsflash: Not every organization operates the same way the Steelers have been a family run team for almost 100 years.

Look at each playoffs game in those years...Not because they were lucky in the ugly one score game in almost all of those years mean that they were a good team.....The only thing it does,it was to prevent the steelers to have a high draft pick and they need that even more that over 20 years ago

The steelers are just outdated at this point....The steelers way was great for very long but now...They need to evolve, which they are incapable of doing.

The steelers defense were a laughing stock against the pats in 2016 and they were without Gronk for that game....Hogan had like 180 receiving yards against the soft zone defense by Tomlin.I guess Ben was the problem for that game!

I don't have to look at the playoffs games . That has nothing to do with a new HC coming in to a team that won 10 games 3 straight years, and made the playoffs 5 out of the last 6 years.
If the HC is better, which I hope he is, he has no excuses.
He is not coming to a losing team like the HCs you tried, and failed showing
