Maybe if Ben studied his playbook more rather than partying in Milledgeville, GA the team would've won more in the playoffs .

There's a reason McCarthy wasn't kept around by the Packers and Cowboys.

Hey man, if you're into looking at dicks and balls, I'm not going to judge you. To each his own.

There's a restaurant near me that has a glass floor so you can look down into the brewery below you and see the guys brewing your beer. I always wondered about what the guys in the brewery see when they look up.

He inherited a team that had back to back to back 10 win seasons, and just won the division.

My first thought when I saw this was that it would likely drive a ton of calm and rationale discussion here.

I think as time went on, Tomlin wanted low character guys because he believed he could show them love and turn them around. The list is a mile long!

I think it is the opposite, that he lost his patience for such players.

I prefer the Weird Al version:

"I'm not dumb but I don't understand, how he can lift me in the air just by raising my hand...Oh, my Yoda...Y-O-D-A, Yoda..."

And made the playoffs 3 years running. And 5 of the last 6 years. 60 regular season wins over that span while being very consistent: 12-9-9-10-10-10. Even though QB play was pretty uniformly bad especially in years 2-5 of this sample.

I really hope that MM does better than this in his (first?) 5 years here. But I don't think he will (e.g., I'm guessing that we will miss the playoffs at least once in the next 5 years). Historically, I believe that he's done much better against sub 0.500 teams than MT. But significantly wore against better teams (can't remember if the stat I saw for this was +500 teams or 10+ wins).

I think that people have kind of gotten used to the idea that 9 wins is the floor for the Steelers. But it's the floor because we played the straight jacket offense with an emphasis on keeping the score low, not beating ourselves, and letting the other team make the big mistake.

We're very likely to change the strategy under MM. Which will almost certainly mean that the floor will be lower (with a potentially higher ceiling too!).

And, we probably won't be the most boring offense to watch since the merger like we were with Kenny/Canada (no data to back this up aside from my own "lived experience").

I think the good news about MM will be that he's pretty unlikely to do as well as Tomlin did with bad QB play. So we'll probably pick earlier than 20 (maybe significantly earlier than 20) sometime in the next 5 drafts (MM's contract).

And that's the best bet to get a better QB (even though it's still not a particularly good bet).

The problem with the current steelers team, they have been average at best in the last 5 years and they are now one of the oldest team in the NFL,even if you remove Heyward and Rodgers.Their ceilling is too low right now. The team Tomlin inherited was certainly much better in 2007, and I can say the same thing about Cowher in 1992 when they had a lot of young talent, especially on defense.

We shouldn't let the 10 wins blind us, since the Steelers have been bottom 10 yards on both sides of the ball in almost every year for the last 5 years... They need luck and a crazy record in one score game to have a winning record. They are just 49-46-1 in the last 96 games including the playoffs and this is not a small size. This is 6 seasons of 16 games

That's why I want a rebuilding since the Roethlisberger's retirement but Rooney is just happy with the mediocrity

I used be pretty active in the offseason until the last probably 5 years. I’ve been lurking the last few weeks.

We have no Qb going forward, an o line considered a work in progress, aging stars on defense, no proven ILB’s or safeties. We got to 10 wins thanks to key injuries to our division rivals. And we’ve been a quick out in the playoffs when weve gotten there, for the last 10 years.

its a team that needs alot of work. A far cry from what Tomlin inherited when he became HC.
