Not compared to other places he was at. Tomlins winning seasons would have continued, it was a system that was good for eking out regular seasons wins with poor QB play.

If you can't identify that Canada didn't belong in the NFL, then I don't know what to tell you. He never worked in the NFL before....and he won't work there again. He was that bad. I was talking about his offenses when he was here and routinely describing how certain stuff couldn't work. There was no creativity.

They didn't fail each other. Canada failed...period. So did the people that hired him and left him in place for as long as they did.

This isn't arguable. His offense wasn't NFL-level and he was a failure. No quarterback played well in his system....Not a single one. Only after he left did the offense get better, and that was when two coaches already on the staff tweaked the playbook as much as they could while still continuing to do their regular duties with the team. And the offense improved with him gone. If that doesn't spell out how bad he was, then I'm not sure I have any other way to explain it.

Why is it so hard for you and certain other here to admit that Matt Canada was the issue. He was the professional and the coach that designed the offense and couldn't even put together route combinations that worked together to create separation on a regular basis? He didn't understand or use some common schematic design with modern offenses and incorporate much into his offense. The offense was simple, outdated, and was of poor design. He also sucked as a play caller. I would say it was the trifecta of suck, but he failed on much more than three of his missions as an NFL offensive coordinator.

Kenny Pickett was a rookie that got thrust into this situation only four games into his career. It's the coach that's supposed to help the young player, not the other way around. Then he wouldn't work with Pickett or coach him directly. So one quarterback already failed in his system and a rookie is getting thrown in there, and he's not going to try to explain concepts and try to incorporate what the young quarterback does well and pull back on the stuff he doesn't do well. What in the name of hell was this guy getting paid to do? He's the offensive coordinator and play caller. It was his job to put everyone in the best position to succeed. He failed on every single level of what a coach gets paid to do.

You admit in your own post that I'm quoting above that his play designs sucked, yet you are still expecting a rookie/second year quarterback to overcome his own young QB struggles and the horrible designs of the offense he is playing in? That doesn't really make any sense.

One without music from end of career Ben...still got it. Still had the arm strength too IMO. But the accuracy declined.

What a bunch of BS. BR calls it like it is. MR is not and never will be anything more than an average backup. We all know that, but by all means, you just keep taking shots at HOFer who knows what he's talking about.

If You had to win a game tomorrow. Who you taking Rudolph, or Howard?
Now next year the answer maybe different, but right now its not. Its actually as simple as that.
People talk about losing games like it means nothing.
Ive never met a coach that it means nothing to.

Not dismissing Rudolph, but we haven't seen Howard with the A-team. And what I mean by A-team... is Metcalf, Pittman, Washington, Friermuth, Warren at skill positions.

Howard played most snaps with dudes who aren't even on the roster anymore. And Wilson running bad routes.

Same guys that Mason played with this preseason. Ive seen Mason win games in the NFL. I haven't Howard.
Like I said next year it maybe different. Even if they trade Mason, I hope they bring in a experienced NFL backup Qb.

I never said Canada was a good OC. He didn't know how to run a pro style offense. And you can't admit Pickett is barely a backup in this league.

I have no problem admitting Pickett isn't a very good quarterback. Where do you get that from?

I'm not saying Pickett is good. I already said that in my first response to you. The problem is that he was never given a chance to be good in that offense. No quarterback looked good in that offense. Not one.

There is a reason Canada isn't in the NFL anymore. He should have never been hired into the NFL in the first place. After hiring him, he should have been fired very quickly if anyone in authority there knew anything about offensive football. That was the problem.

I was called stupid when we hired him at OC because I said he was a poor hire from watching him in college. Of course out of all that said that to me only one guy actually came back , and apologized .
I also blame Rooney for the hire. Go look at who knew Canada the longest, and the most. It was Rooney.
Of course most laugh at that now, but we know it was Rooney who fired/let go Arians, and hired Haley, but somehow its crazy to some that he hired Canada.

Tomlin hired him. Colbert had heavy input in drafting Pickett in round one. Canada was at the reigns of the offense.

Together these three amigos were the offensive equivalent of a group project where one guy brought the PowerPoint template from 2016, another picked the presenter because he was from the same zip code, and the third kept insisting the jet sweep motion would “create conflict” while the defense just watched the same movie for the third straight year. The fans suffered. It was :poopy:

You don't know Tomlin hired him.
Question, who fired/let go Arians ? It wasn't Tomlin.
Who hired Haley?? It wasn't Tomlin.
Who knew Canada the longest?? It wasn't Tomlin.
So in all that said , besides you hating everything Tomlin did, and so you want to blame it on him, what makes you think he was the reason they hired Canada??

    Wasn't me, I wasn't around then...:lolol:

I am suspicious Rooney also had a heavy hand in drafting Pickett. I have a hard time believing the scouting missed so badly on him being a first rounder. Rooney missing out on another Dan Marino should never have been a conversation based on KP's college tape.

    Yes, we do know.

Mike Tomlin initially brought Canada onto his coaching staff as quarterbacks coach in Jan 2020. He later promoted him to offensive coordinator in January 2021

The head coach in the NFL picks his staff.
