Mike Tomlin is stepping down from the Steelers

It wasn't just a Tomlin decision if you think the OL coach wasn't involved too .

 

Are these same fans going to just blame McCarthy if Fautanu and McCormick fail by moving to the left side?

 

First of all, it's Haslam. Who the fưck is haslem? Secondly, Haslam bought the team for just over $1B and they are worth close to $5B today. That's a net gain of 400% in 14 years. That's one helluva a return. Haslam isnt going anywhere any time soon. Which means they continue to do dumb browns shít.

 

And who hired the OL coach, smart guy? Stick to just reposting tweets and leave your commentary out because it's lame AF.

 

Sometimes it makes sense to play a player out of position the Steelers had Seumalo at LG, McCormick got a chance to play as a rookie because Daniels got injured IIRC. Moving Jones wasn't ideal for his development but I don't think he has the makings of a franchise LT.

 

He came out of the closet a long time ago.

 

Tomlin is gone - we had some good times and some bad times. Take it for what it is.

I do think it’s interesting to hear the same people who complain about Tomlin, and his poor playoff record, turn around and celebrate McCarthy.

Let’s be honest, McCarthy and Tomlin have coached almost the same number of years and have very similar regular season and playoff W-L.

Tomlin had a poor W-L record in the playoffs, but McCarthy isn’t that much better (.4 vs .5). Lest we forget that McCarthy always had very good starting QBs (Farve, Rodgers, and Prescott). As good as Ben was, Rodgers was arguably among the best ever in his prime.

I wish McCarthy all the best, and will root for him and the teams success. Having said that, there is a fair chance we see more of the same in the next few years (assuming we don’t figure out a way to address the same problem areas that plague this team).

 

This is made even worse by the fact that, Amarius Mims (someone who happens to be a very good friend of Broderick Jones), is blossoming into one of the best Right Tackles in the NFL despite him being even more raw and more inexperienced than Broderick was coming out. Amarius exclusively played Right Tackle for fewer games yet Broderick played Left Tackle for far more.


Critique as much as one wants about Zac Taylor but he handled Amarius way better than Tomlin did Broderick.

Dude I played out my 1st time when I was 15 in a teen bar. Do people remember those??? I still get dry mouth , and have to piss with nerves even now. LoL
Here is the only Guitar I still own with a tremolo, and I never play it out because I hate dealing with them. This same guitar broke 4 string at the same time while I was playing live. Good thing it was an easy song(Machine Head by Bush)or I would have been lost trying to keep up on the strings I had left. After that I went to all guitars without tremolo.

Not a fan of the move. OTOH they didn't have much of an option (unless you were sold on Cook). We'll see how it works out.

 

McCarthy had Rodgers in his prime and one of the best home field advantages and only made it to one Super Bowl in the weaker NFC.

The Steelers haven't historically gifted started positions to guys who didn't win the job against a vet (who's often weak competition).

Jones didn't beat out the weak competition at LT.

Off the top of my head, there are two times where we gifted the starting position to a guy without competition. Both on the OL. One worked really well (Frazier), the other was an utter disaster (K Green). I'm sure it's happened more frequently than this, but those are the ones I remember off the top of my head.

Starting Jones at RT when he didn't win the LT job was much better than having him sit when we were in desperate need of a starter at RT.

Honestly, the thing I think we did wrong IMO was rotating series between Jones and Troy (briefly before Troy got hurt) after Jones lost the competition for both LT and RT. If Troy didn't get hurt, that would have hurt the development of the guy in that tandem that was the better NFL starter.
