If they always planned to keep 4, I would have really like to have seen Allar get the start against Buffalo.

Maybe they want to bring him along slowly?

We rebuild, we just don't tank, and I for one am glad of that.

Don't get me started on that. I rather not think about it.
Also if Max becomes awesome, I will totally forget about it

Hehe. I've been there on multiple threads today. Seeing just what a terrible job Khan has done filling the safety position has me ticked off about that pick all over again.

And rebuild we must! I pretty much got my wish list between keeping all the newly drafted players and keeping all four quarterbacks, plus sending some bought-in guys from elsewhere, elsewhere. OK so I'm old but it was never the Stillers thing to buy their taters right off the truck. They grew em at home in their own garden. Besides, in light of the near certainty of future additional trades and filling out the practice squad, there's a lot of filling out to do. Plus draft picks to be grabbed up. Now, I caught some flack on another thread for calling A Rodgers a used-up bum so I won't call him a used-up bum now...Did I forget to say used-up bum? OK sorry. Not. But I figure as long as he's around 10 and 7 is the best they're going to do, so I'm looking to 2027 and beyond. And now we got a head coach with a history of building great teams. I mean seriously, isn't everybody real tired of watching the Steelers poke around in ohhhh-soooo-predictable and transparent slow motion, and then you watch the next game and see other teams executing sharp plays with impeccable timing. So I guess this is also my answer to the guy who said what good are Allar and Howard right now. They're not for right now. They are for rebuilding , and so somebody else doesn't grab them up, and then they come back and beat us later.

The roster has a lot of talent, BUT where are their stars! Where’s the flash needed to get to the dance! Every team has talent n youth, that’s why we’ve a draft but where’s that ONE?

Guess one could argue Arod is our star at the moment. But we just went through a “solid” draft, IMO, but where’s THEE STAR on this offense? Can Roman finally break out? Germie?

“Solid” is the word I keep thinking n using to describe our roster, team, picks, but….

It's a good point. Who is this team's best player under 28? Porter? Frazier?

    Warren is
Warren. He's 27. And he's going to take a whoopin because Rodgers is going to dump it off on him to get killed every time he can't hit Metcalf on the sideline. Like last year. Five receivers out and if he can't hit Metcalf he kills the running back. Good for his stats.

Warren isn't even a full-time player. He is likely to be splitting the job with Dowdle.

I sort of thought that, but a video of his pass-blocking and always-forward runs (no dancing and negative plays) changed my mind. His pass-protection was darn good for a rookie. He has agility, speed and hands. You have to find a place for a player like that and not the plodders or the ones who never play special teams, can't pass block or can't catch. The Steelers made the right call. I do hope they work him in a handful of plays every week (and more if either Dowdle or Warren get hurt and miss any games. Eli might well become a key RB/WR hybrid for the next 8 or 9 years.

Keeping all the rookies makes the payroll and cap space go further next year or the year after too. That means one or two less positions having to fill with higher priced (and probably no upside, slightly higher floor) veterans that eat away at cap space. If they sign Porter, keeping all the rookies is a must after the extensions to several other players the past three months.

It would really be a bad look for the Steelers to not have their top 2 picks from 3 years ago on the team. They had 2 of the top 32 picks in the draft that year and are in danger of not having either one of them.

Eli had positive plays and showed he could play ST'S ..He already had other Teams who wanted to see if he could translate his skills to the NFL,,Him jumping ahead of KJ showed Teams that he was making progress in the NFL.. Reports are out that he would have been lost to another Team if we cut him..

I always thought he would make the Team a lot of versatility it would be dumb not to take a closer look ...
